Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super‐Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super‐secret, supershady Task Force X. Today’s do‐ordie assignment? Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain collection of cons, including Assemble a Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy‐infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search‐and‐destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.Bonus Content:The Way of the Gunn Deleted & Extended Scenes Gag Reel Gotta Love The Squad The Way of the Gunn It's a Suicide Mission My Guns Bigger Than Yours Harley's Great Escape The Fall of Jotunheim Starro:It's a Freakin Kaiju! Best of the trio
Although not strictly a sequel or spin-off to the earlier films in the canon (Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey), this film "The Suicide Squad" was easily the best of the bunch. It's more of a re-imagining than anything. Director James Gunn, on temporary Sabbatical from the Marvel Universe (the Guardian of the Galaxy films) was given cart-blanch from Warner Brothers Films for this movie and could bring back any (or none) of the characters from the earlier films. He wisely chose to bring back three ... Col James Flag, Ms. Amanda Walker, and Harley Quinn. As this movie concerns the stories of only minor supervillains from the DC Comic universe, he could also kill off any of them. And kill off he does. Casting was impeccable, and several major stars signed on for minor roles here. For example, Nathan Fillion signed on as one of the lamest supervillains ever ... his power wasn't fatal, merely annoying. The outstanding Margot Robbie was the best actor/actress in the movie; in one difficult special effect-laden scene, I would have bet that Robbie had used a stunt double. While that was the intent, she did the scene by herself, which impressed me. No one understands or can bring comics to the big screen better than James Gunn. The movie is a visual treat from one end of the movie to another, with several big (and often humorous) twists to the plot. One thing I noted, is that several of the deleted scenes should have been part of the movie. One scene, for example, explains why Walker sent Flag on a crappy mission. They must have been cut due to running time concerns. Very good, campy fun. Five stars.

Sort of good, I guess?
I'm still not sure what to think of this, days after watching it. It's entertaining. It's kind of weird. The ending doesn't offer much of a conclusion (when you think about it), and is a bit unsatisfying. It has some good dialog and some funny moments. Some of the best performances are by the supporting cast. And there are some other notable negatives, but I can't mention those without spoilers. It's about as good - or bad, depending on your perspective - as the first Suicide Squad movie. It's quite a bit better than Birds of Prey (though if you dislike irreverent action & violence, and prefer the slightly more character-driven nature of Birds of Prey, then you might disagree). One noteable improvement is the character of Harley Quinn. It's interesting to see the difference in writing & performance given it's the same actress in all three movies. This movie's Harley Quinn is far, far superior to the prior movies'. She has the intended anti-hero charisma in this one, that was attempted but completely missed in Birds of Prey. And she's more interesting and directly connected to the plot than in the first Suicide Squad. I really liked her in this one, whereas she was basically an extra in the first Suicide Squad and an unlovable psychopath in Birds of Prey.

Hilarity and pathos in equal measure
boy James Gunn is pretty good at this whole... Filmmaking thing. He expertly balances the more outlandish and absurd elements of the DCU with some genuine emotion and character development. The fact he can make King Shark, Polka Dot man, and even Weasel sympathetic is a testament to his writing and filmmaking skills and proof of what good hands the DC universe is in with him as the banner wielder.

Bittersweet🫤
I was so excited when this movie came out considering the 1st SS was AWESOME! However, at the end of the day, this 2nd SS movie was kinda disappointing. The storyline was ridiculous yet the "main" cast (Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, etc.) was great and there were some good comedic scenes.

I gave this five stars for entertainment value...
Despite the fact I'm not a Marvel fan, I finally took a chance and watched this. I would say the actors took this from being a mediocre tale, to a somewhat entertaining fiasco. I didn't know you could change a bang bang shoot'em up movie into something of real entertainment value. I just want to point out how awesome of an actress Margo Robbie is!!! I mean, the women exudes sexuality even when playing a somewhat crazy, heroic villian. She and the other actors do colorful, strong and at times supremely humorous character roles in this movie. I enjoyed this thoroughly. Can't wait to watch it again.....
