A good and faithful friend
I shred most of my mail. I have had this shredder for nearly a year and it has faithfully chomped up my personal and private information nonstop. I bought the special shredder oil to keep the gears lubricated and apply it about once per month. This is a great shredder, easy to set up! The only complaint I have is that the basket fills quickly. If I could do it again, I may have bought a size bigger. This is about right for at-home use, but I don't think it would be good in an office unless you didn't mind emptying it all the time.It is a nice small size and attractive. I would buy this product again and recommend it to a friend! I love you, Shreddy!

don't let the bin overfill or you could run into the dreaded paper jam
excellent product. I had a very big job (excess of 3000 sheets to shred). as with all products there is a learning curve, but once you figure it out, this machine is a very hard worker and very reliable. some of the things I learned early on - do not let the bin fill too high up -- once the shredded paper level is above the viewing area, the newly shredded paper has no place to go so it just starts to impact the ability to shred any more paper. this is what happened to me (so learn from my mistake) - I tried to clear out the tightly packed shreds from the gears, first by removing all that was easy to remove and then to get the rest I put the machine in reverse. big mistake. this forced the shreds back up between the cutters and the slot, making it impossible to get them out. and with them blocking the cutters, I could not add any more sheets. so what to do? I flipped the machine on its back and proceeded to remove the screws to get the cover off. okay, easy enough. but wait - there are 6 screws, one of them having a label stuck over the hole. and what does this label say? "warranty voided if seal is broken." so what to do? simple - I jabbed the screwdriver down the hole and removed the screw. once the lid separates from the gears, it's fairly straightforward to clear out the mess. all put back together, the machine now works perfectly. I just make sure to empty the bin more often and if I do need to put the rollers in reverse I make sure that there is just a few shreds that won't come loose. and yes, the machine will overheat (red light displayed) if you use it for an extended period of time, but it's not really a problem. I would add about 20 sheets, take a minute or two off and do something else, then add another group of sheets. this lasted for over an hour before the red light finally appeared. I bet I shredded over 500 sheets before the overheat signal appeared. that's enough for one day! so whay only 4 stars if I'm raving about this machine? because i'll bet 90% of the first time users ran into a paper jam that could not be resolved without removing the lid. and to do so voids the warranty. what are we supposed to do? call the mfgr up and ask them how to remove the jam? we KNOW how to remove the jam. it's not rocket science. luckily the product has very few parts so it's not like a computer that is going to hang up and stop working. take good care of it, oil it properly, and it will last.

Happy with Fellowes
This is the second Fellowes shredder I have purchased. My original Fellowes Shredder is still going strong, but we needed a second one in another location. This one is perfect for light duty needs. It also has a lock feature to help prevent little things from being shredded and potentially jamming the shredder. The cross cutting is an upgrade over my older shredder.I was happy with my first Fellowes shredder and I am sure this one will be the same.

Machine was great while it worked
Machine was great while it worked... until it didn't. It's been six months since I bought it.While it worked, it was a quieter machine than other Fellowes machines i had owned in the past. it has a small bin but enough for shredding personal junk mail once a week or so. I was careful not to overload it or to run it for too long each time, and it worked smoothly and cleanly.Very disappointed that it has stopped working.

Works well, runs very smoothly
This product does exactly what's expected of it. I've had it for a few months and I have shredded filing cabinets of old paperwork. I haven't ran it for more than 15 minutes in a row and I do keep it oiled so that probably helps it work optimally. If you need a home shredder, this is for you!

Nice shredder but watch out for paper jams
A good shredder, but even though I never put through more than 2 sheets at a time It had a very bad paper jam that the troubleshooting tip didn't fix. I spent an hour with tweezers picking out clumps of paper from the teeth. After that it worked fine again. It also shredded three credit cards quite well. I don't know why it jammed. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

Doesn't last long
I bought 2 of these shredders and one lasted about 3 months, and I though that maybe it was a fluke, now my second made it just over 1 year and it's done. Both just stopped working - one day it worked, the next day it won't even turn on. Cheap price, but not worth it.

Powerful
Works great, has lots of power. Not such a tall bin, I bought it to shred years of paperwork before a move so replacing the bin was a consistent task, but that’s not the shredders fault. For anyone else not shredding years of paperwork I’d highly recommend
