I read all four volumes of this series. Got a real understanding of this ego maniac (Napoleon) that I never got from history. Learning that his "historic" battles were directly responsible for the deaths of seven million people discussed me. Why he is considered a great general I will never know. The book never ceases to be fastinating. All four volumes are great.Recommend.

When I first started reading tis book, the details were almost monotonous. Setting the stage. A LOT of knowledge in the movements around Napoleon were detailed and chronicled. It was all a tapestry that wove together a fine tapestry. Can't wait to get into volume 3. I have a couple of other books to worm through first!
