DEWALT DCS355N 18V Oscillating Brushless Multi-Tool with 1 x 4.0Ah DCB182 Battery & Charger

I've only had the Dewalt a couple of days but I've used it to remove and replace rotten floor boards and for that job it's been fine. It didn't feel like it was being overworked and I like the quick change blade feature.I bought this to replace a multi tool I'd owned for a couple of years but the locating pins on the blade head had worn away. That same feature on the Dewalt is more robust than the older but less expensive tool.Only two wood cutting blades in the pack and I'd have preferred a few more.It's early days but so far so good.

The description lists, in the second para, "Quick-fit depth stop for ultimate control over application. Quick-fit dust extraction kit is compatible with the DEWALT Airlock system." IT DOES NOT COME WITH THESE. The included manual says that these are included in kits that have a battery and charger, which would seem to cover this case, but Amazon have pulled a fast one and have supplied a kit without the battery etc, and then added the battery and charger in the larger box. First response from DeWalt was that suppliers can include the wrong info, which did not leave a good feeling but they are now going away and will contact me in a couple of days.Feels like a quality piece of kit but there is a drawback in the design that surprised me. I am used to a multi tool that can be set by dial to one of half a dozen speeds, that can be locked in place. This one has the speed controlled via the trigger, and there are about seven discrete speeds, but you can only lock the trigger at the maximum speed. If you are doing a lot of cutting, then your trigger finger may get tired unless you run full whack.The quick fit tool holder is better than the Bosch Starlock, and allows pattern cutters to be used, at about the fifth the price of the Bosch originals. If you can avoid losing the little adaptor bits, you can use your old fittings as well, although that requires an allen key.

What a fantastic bit of kit to have around, does what it says on the tin….gets into tight corners , cuts easily with a variety of blades it’s something you need in the toolbox.
