Perfect for Homemade Empanadas !
I absolutely loved this empanada maker! It’s so easy to use, and now I wish I had ordered the smaller size too get both if you can! It works perfectly with chilled dough. If your dough starts getting sticky, just dust the empanada maker with a bit of flour or cornstarch, and you’re good to go.Here’s what worked best for me: I used a 6-inch round cookie cutter for the dough, transferred the cutout to the empanada maker, added a scoop of filling to the center, and brushed the edges with water to help seal it perfectly. The results were flawless and so satisfying. Highly recommend!

Empanadas yes, pie no!
I don't want to be unfair to this product, as I actually purchased it to make fruit pies and not empanadas so bear that in mind regarding my following comments.I feel it could be heavier in construction, the material thickness is akin to a pastry cutter and I was expecting something more heavy duty. I went with stainless because I thought it might be better for heavier use, easier to keep clean and honestly I am fedup with everything being plastic. It is easy to clean, wipe it down, throw it in the dishwasher and you are ready to go again.Secondly, it doesn't take very much filling, again I am making fruit pies not empanadas and I struggle to get as much filling in there as I want. If I was making a meat pie, I would still want more filling. If the pastry is too thin it either splits the 'backbone' or oozes out of the fluting along the joint as you form the pie.In regard to the joint, the fluting is too soft, it needs to be sharper in order to properly seal the pastry together. If I have even slightly overfilled the pie I have at times gone over the joint with a fork to make a better seal, now I am doubling up on the work. If you do go overboard on the pressure in an attempt to get a good seal then the pastry just gets flattened as there is no stop and it's just not a pretty pie; I wanted to use the word 'oozes' again but I had used it in the previous point!Thirdly, it states in the description 'dough cutter', I guess you could use it upside down to cut out your 6" dough circle but the underside has a slight lip on it to soften the edge so this would be odd and unlike some other products there is no cutting edge by the fluting, you could literally keep pushing the mold together untiil the press meets squeezing all of the pastry out, so yeah I'm not convinced on that one.So, I haven't returned it but I have purchased another and yes it is made of plastic. I guess if the new one works out better than and as I don't make empanadas I guess this will just languish in the back of the cupboard with the 3 other cheese graters and those fancy patterned cake pans that you only use every time Halley's Comet comes around. However, this might be just the ticket for empanadas!

Easy to use, seals empanadas, it works great! Beautiful!
The media could not be loaded. This gadget is amazing to make perfect empanadas. It seals them perfectly. Use strategies that help your success using this gadget. 1. Buy quality empanada discs or make your dough so that it is not too soft. 2. Stretch empanada disc over the ridges on the edge of the gadget 3. Place your empanada press hanging over a cutting board for a super sealed empanada. 4. Gently remove the empanada from the empanada press. See my picture and video. 5. Separate your empanadas with wax or parchment paper before frying them.

Disappointed
I love pastelillos/empanadas. So does my family. Since I've been disabled I haven't made them. So decided to purchase item to make it easier, less painful. However, this gadget doesn't work as it should. Even wet the borders slightly but still doesn6allow dough to seal properly. All my stuffing came out. So had to resort3to old fashion way...pressing edges with fork to then fry. I give this product 2/10 stars
