Crisp Shifts
Installed this brass shifter bushing in my '97 Miata with a built, supercharged motor and I gotta say,what a difference. Shifting feels noticeably tighter and more precise, especially under load. It eliminated a lot of the slop I didn’t even realize I had gotten used to. Install was straightforward and absolutely worth the upgrade for anyone who enjoys spirited driving.If you drive your Miata hard or just want better feedback through the shifter, this little bushing makes a big impact. Perfect fit for my 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata (NC) with manual 5-speed transmission
The dimensions of this brass shifter bushing (18 mm outer diameter, 15 mm inner diameter, 16 mm height) make it slot perfectly into the shifter turret of my 5-speed manual transmission.Nothing "squeezes" into place - the bushing slides into the turret easily, and then the "ball" on the end of the shifter slides into the bearing easily. There is just enough clearance.This brass bushing replaced my *shattered* plastic OEM bushing... Thankfully, the transmission doesn't seem affected by the plastic bits that I could not find and tweeze out of the turret. Shifting feels much better - less play and flex as I change gears.Note: Be careful and take your time with dropping/sliding the bushing into place in the receptacle in the turret. I do not know if you'll be able to easily fish the bushing out of the turret if it falls into the wrong place... I used a chopstick and placed one end into the receptacle, and used that to help guide the bushing into the receptacle by sliding it over and down the chopstick.

fitment
does not fit 94-97 miata 5 speed. way too lose, makes shifting gears feel looser. if a particular gear has a bad synchro, then having a loose shifter bushing will make it harder to shift. leave the plastic in there, and keep a spare in the glovebox or find a more reputable brass bushing.

Very tight fit had to sand it down even to fit and once fitted it was still much too tight resulting in hard shifting

93 miata
Tested the shift it shifted good for 5 gears but did not go into reverse for some reason put the old bearing on and it went into reverse fine im not sure but didn’t work for the reverse :( it fits kind of loose on the shifter and was a little taller compared to my old brass bearing but yes oem shifter also.

2007 NC Miata 5speed direct replacement part
Fitment for 2007 NC Miata 5speed in the turret and end of the shifter ball is snug and exact size as plastic OEM piece. Brass shifter bushing made the shifting more precise and firm and not as much play as the plastic OEM bushing. Shifting between gears is a little notchy compared to the OEM plastic bushing, but that is expected for metal to metal contact. Great value part and made the miata short shifter feel better than the OEM.

There is no slop whatsoever now. Shifts are so crisp!!
Went in without any issue during the shifter rebuild of my NB1 5-speed. Shifts are so crisp now and there is zero slop. The old nylon shifter cup had become a collar with no bottom. The difference in play is night and day. No more 2-5 shifts! Totally satisfied with this part
