This is a really great filter media. I use it in an above tank wet-dry filter for both mechanical and bio filtration. I only have to replace the top layer when it gets dirty, while the lower layers stay colonized with beneficial bacteria and free of debris. It has a good density and stiffness for a media. Filter floss that is too soft and fluffy becomes packed down as soon as water begins to flow through it, but this bonded media keeps it shape much better. This is especially important with a wet-dry filter where I want it to resist compressing, because the air space withing the media stack is needed to optimize oxygenation and elimination of ammonia. At the same time it is flexible enough to cut easily with ordinary scissors and bend to any shape needed.It also is perfect to disperse water flow through a filter so that channeling does not result in dead spaces in the media. One side of the media is slightly stiffer and more dense than the softer side. I have water flow into the soft side, and then the more dense side ensures that the flow spreads out and does not go straight through lower layers.Many DIY'ers suggest alternatives to traditional filter media such as plastic pot scrubbers or fluffy bath sponges. This is cheaper than those "cost saving alternatives", it works much better, and it is easy to cut and fit for any shape needed. For my filters, I make a "sandwich" of generic ceramic rings between two layers of this poly material, which I've found to be the best balance of effectiveness and affordability.

I recently set up a new tank, but the filter was terrible, so I bought a different filter. It works great, but doesn’t get the water crystal clear like I want. I added this filter floss, and WOW! Super clear water! I replace it weekly to ensure I keep those small particles out of the tank. Completely worth the purchase.

I have used many other filter pads in my reef aquarium, and these are the best by far! I have used blue, green, and red filter pads they all worked about the same. When I bought these, I assumed it was just going to be the same thing as well. I mostly bought them because I figured it might be better to use a filter pad that did not have any color dye. Wow, was I mistaken, these pads are way better. There are two layers, and the layers are different, one side is made to catch larger particles, and the other one is made to captures finer particles. You want the tighter weaved section on the bottom if not it will clog quickly and defeat the purpose of the pads.The pads last longer, during the standard period which it would require me to replace the pad, these pads are not even halfway utilized. My unfiltered water comes in from one side on my Nano tank and then runs over the pads. So now instead of replacing the pad once a week, my process is replacing the pad, then next week rotate the pad and then the following week replace the filter pad. I could even go longer than a week between the process how when I replace the filter pad, there is still a large section in the center that is clean.I have been using the pads now for about a month, I could not imagine a month ago claiming that I suggested a filter pad for anyone in the aquarium hobby how I felt like they all worked the same, but these filter pads are great, and I would highly recommend them.While I gave the five starts for easy to clean, I do not clean these pads. They are cheap enough that I can toss them when they are done. I mostly gave them five stars on this one because I was just amazed at how good the pads work.

Although I purchased item for other than its intended use, the supplier was obviously concerned about its customers & reached out to address my concerns. I’m more than satisfied w/their customer service.My review still stands that the material is of good quality, plenty thick & I’m sure it is benefit to those in need of aquarium filtration material.The material is good; works for my intended purpose (waterproof insulation material) but is nowhere near the size shown online for the 12x72 roll.The online picture of the roll makes the roll appear larger than the actual size, so measure accordingly to assure it meets your needs.

This filter material works very well at trapping and removing debris from aquariums. I appreciate the gradient across the thickness of the material to trap large and fine debris. My goldfish can really fill it up!Even if I let it go long, it is still filling up. Great product!

I have been using this media for months. I have multiple canister filters on Cichlid, rainbow, goldfish and guppy tanks. My fish seem healthier since using it. I like it because it’s easy to rinse and you can reuse it multiple times without throwing it away! It’s easy to cut and fit into any filter shape. One roll was more than enough for all my filters, with some leftover. It filters really well, too. I would highly recommend this product.

I make my own filter pads for my HOB and canister filters. For used cartridge filters I cut off the pads and reuse the frames for cut-to-fit pads. I love this product as it is double density and is about 1/2 inch thick. Similar products are at least 1” thick, too thick to use in an external power filter. They used pads can be washed clean with a garden hose on a hard patio surface or in the washer, no detergent just water.A real money saver!

I absolutely love this product. In combination with Seachem 116011709 Matrix Bio Media 1 Liter, it has my water clear and has made filter cleanings incredibly easy. Had this product in my filter for a month and when I went it to clean the filter, all the dirt was held into this amazing sponges! I simply cleaned them up til water was clear and reuse. The other media and sponges I have in there were pretty easy to clean as they were not filled with the usual muck. Strongly recommend and glad I purchased. One purchase of these babies go a long way.

Used in my sump and over head filters, using a template it’s easy to cut to any shape desired.I have found they can be rinsed out a few times before you need to to replace (but this will depend on your particular setup)Great value.

I like the product...... too pricey for the amount you get.
