I live in Southern Texas and some of the seeds I planted last Fall are in a shady area and grass is doing fine there too. I ordered it because it does well in very hot weather which we have here. I like it so much I just ordered more to fill other bare spots.

Unless you have grass that is ornamental (doesn’t cover an entire lawn), grass is always perennial. You will never see a bag of grass seed FOR lawns marked as “perennial”, that just goes without saying.
