Truly great little speakers!
Bought these based upon reviews and specs, though I wasn't familiar with the brand. So glad I took a chance! The sound is full and rich with clean deep bass. Hard to believe the sound quality these produce from their diminutive size. They're rated at 20 watts RMS which is plenty for speakers their size. (If uou aren't familiar, "RMS" is a true measure of an amplifier output to the speakers. So the internal amplifier inside generates an honest 20 watts delivered to the speakers. Never believe exaggerated numbers you'll typically see on inexpensive speakers. They're inflated "peak watt" capacity (not power) which is what you can feed them for a second or two before they blow up, not a meaningful measure of any kind, and a good indicator that the product is essentially junk. I'll be buying another set of these for my home PC, as I put these on my office PC. These absolutely beat the tar out of the Bose speakers I have on the home PC and they were more expensive!

Maybe the best $80 I've ever spent.
I mean I don’t want to annoy my wife; as I think I also spent $80 on our first date, but this is a close toss-up. I’ve had these speakers awhile now, probably 18 months. I was just turning 50 and I said, “time for some me-time.” I could have purchased a new Trans Am like my idiot coworker…God, what a nut case. I settled in for a new gamming PC setup with Case, CPU, GPU, Monitor, standing desk, shelves, and cabinets. You know…the Trans Am is starting to look like the better purchase.Anyhow, I never thought about computer speakers until after I got everything setup some months later. I had a set of PC speakers that came free with a previous system that were about 4” tall. They did their job for a while, but everything on the new desk was new except for the speakers. It was time for an upgrade. So, I spent a couple of weeks looking at different solutions and budgets. Soundbar? 5.1? Bookshelf?I decided to go with active powered monitors. There might be 1000 different brands and models to sort though. Search for active powered speakers or near filed monitors and call me back in three months and I will release you from your curse. After a while I just gave up and said, “maybe the R980T is all I need.” It’s a small office. Our son sleeps on the other side of the wall. But no man! I’m fifty…I deserve the Klipsch’s The Fives for $500, right. Holy snot AF. These R980Ts are straight up amazing. I’m in a 10x10 office. None of my other sound systems in the living room or master bedroom are as enjoyable as these $80 wonders. Yes, they are positioned three feet away from me. And now they are sitting on some HumanCentric Desktop Speaker Stands Wedges for another $25 that make these even more immersive. Gamming and watching YouTube or any streaming service sounds better than any of my other solutions. And, just like the PC, I spent a lot of money in the other rooms.I’m not going to tell you that you can’t spend more for desktop speakers. I’ve never listened to The Fives. But after my wife, who works a very long hours and makes a lot of money, started looking in the office and questioning just where in fact all this stuff came from, well, it was time to go cheap. And I don’t regret it a bit. I can’t imagine anyone having a sonic need to spend more money on a speaker they’re gong to place on their desk. Maybe the $150 Edifiers are even more amazing. Maybe. Good luck getting that past the wife.

LARGE and In charge!
Great desktop speakers. They're large, so be sure you have the space for them.

High range can be better.
These Edifier 4" bookshelf speakers are a great value for anyone looking to upgrade their audio setup on a budget. The build quality is solid, and they deliver a warm, full sound that's great for casual music listening or desktop use. The mids and lows come through nicely, but the highs aren’t as crisp or detailed as I’d like—especially for genres like classical or anything with a lot of high-frequency detail. Still, they get the job done and look great on the shelf. No remote, but simple manual controls on the speaker itself work just fine.

Speakers come ready to party.
Although the first set I purchased was dead on arrival, the replacement came just 24 hours later. And it was worth the wait. These speakers are loud, clear, and on point. I hooked them up to my gaming PC because my speaker monitors were terrible. But these replacement speakers blow my socks off.Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, these speakers punch above their weight. Fantastic.

Good value - Good sound!
I use mine for desktop speakers for my mac mini. I think they sound great personally. I like good audio but these scratch that itch. Got them from black friday for like 60 bucks. Good deal if you ask me. The bass sounds good too. If you want you can make shake your desk, if your'e into that.I did read in other reviews that if you max out the volume (which I do so I can control the volume on my computer) you will hear a hissing sound. I can sadly confirm that. Although if you have a DAC (like I so happen to already own and wasn't using) that hiss goes completely away and they sound even better! So your milage may vary there.Overall, I'm quite happy with these and will be keeping them for many many years I think.

Buy the Edifier R1280T Black
For a little more you could have the exact same size speaker with a lot more punch. These 12w speakers are not loud at all. I have them hooked up to a DAC at 98% and the speakers at 90% volume and they are just loud enough to hear voice. Speaking of voice, I can hear a bass echo inside of these that drive me nuts. I would not recommend these but the Edifier R1280T versions are so much better. I will return these and buy the black Edifier R1280T . I already have the Walnut Edifier R1280T since 2020 and they really shine. I run the Edifier R1280T at 50 percent and have a lot of flexibility in volume and adjustment. These, Even with an added EQ sound really bad.
