Worked like a charm!
Perfect for what I needed. We have an apartment that “shifts” depending on the season. During the winter months our bathroom door doesn’t latch. I removed the old plate and installed this one with the larger opening without even needing to cut into the door frame.

Some adjustments were required
Solid piece, the original broke off and I selected this one. Used my dewalt oscillator to cut the recess and fit this in. It’s very solid and the door closes properly now.

Great for older houses
I have an older house which tends to settle a bit as we go from drought to rainy season. This often made it difficult for the deadbolt on my front door to reliably insert into the frame. I was constantly having to adjust the position of the striker plate in order to lock my door. This item, with its tall opening, provides enough leeway for the deadbolt to always mate with the frame. It was a cheap "fix" for someone like me that can't afford to have my home properly re-leveled and supported and just wants to get their door locked.

Good, But Not Perfect
The metal seems sufficiently strong for residential use, and installation was straight-forward. It will certainly help the front door on my mobile home which tends to rise or fall based on the season and amount of rainfall. The extra long slot allows about 1" total vertical movement of the door so that the lockset and dead bolt still align with the strike plate. This should address any foreseeable vertical movement. However, I found the slot was too narrow for the dead bolt, and barely wide enough for door latch bolt. My solution was to remove the narrow portion, opposite the the curved portion of the latch plate. I don't think I compromised the strength of the plate by this adjustment, but it did add another task to the installation. I also used 2" screws to provide additional security of the strike plates to door frame.

Great
Had to cut of the "lip" for my application. Deadbolt in a garden gate. The long version gave me enough room for the deadbolt over the time of the year when the gate moves because of humidity changes (Louisiana). Also it was helpful that the screw holes are far apart so I could screw it into place in an area that wasn't affected by former installs. Metal is thicker then the stuff I have seen around in stores.

Fits perfectly my deadbolt
The hole is definitely good sized and fits my deadbolt perfectly. I needed this since shifting has caused the old one not to fit or allow it to close anymore. With this I can now give the shifting plenty of room. The screw holes are tapered unlike another striker I bought allowing the screws to fit flush and snug. It's made of good quality and does an excellent job.I would recommend and buy again.

Incorrect cutout size, poor quality
Metal twice thinner compare with standard strike plate.Cutout size much smaller and does not match item description:actual size - 0.55in x 2.51in,description size - 3/4in( 0.75) x 2 3/4in( 2.75).Latch does not fit into small cutout.Brand name is different from description.
