Change The Stings
Pros:Gutiar sounds good for the price. No noticeable flaws on the finish. Surprisingly light weight.Cons: The low E, B, and F# strings that came on it, were all the same gauge. Went to change them the tuning pegs are too small for heavier strings. Little drill work fixed it, but I may need to put some better turners on.

Great guitar, needed a bit of setup
I bought the Right handed version of the Gstyle 8 string guitar. For $230 I expected that I would need to do some set up work on it when I got it, and I was right. The guitar itself seems to be made of quality materials (much better than guitars in this price range in past years), but at this price range what is usually lacking in guitars is some of the final setup steps. On the guitar I received I had to dress / file the fret ends because they were sharp and sometimes extending a tiny bit beyond the fret board. The strings that were on it I suspect were not even made for an eight string guitar- measured with calipers the low F# string was about a 50 gauge and the B string was about 43 gauge- about the sizes of an E and and A on a heavy six string set. I replaced the strings with the Ernie Ball skinny top / heavy bottom set (2624) that includes a 80 gauge F# and a 64 gauge B string and this made a huge difference in playability and sound.I also adjusted the intonation on the bridge to make it play in tune up and down the neck better. The guitar came packed inside of the included soft gig bag with allen keys for saddle and truss rod, and a cheap guitar cord. This was packed inside of a cardboard box, which itself packed inside of another cardboard box. After doing the setup I tested this guitar through a few different amps and it does sound pretty good, the pickups are voiced pretty nicely, good output level. The neck has a type of satin finish which I prefer to glossy finish and it feels good. The finish on the body of the instrument is good, there is some small imperfections in the paint on some of the hardware- small scratches that I felt were insignificant. There are some small chips in two of the string ball-end receivers on the back of the instrument, again, not something I feel is a big deal given the price. In conclusion I am happy with the guitar and would recommend it to anyone that wants to get into eight string guitar that also has a little skill in setting up a guitar (or can get it to someone that does).
