Effie's Homemade is a 4th generation family recipe with origins in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. These family recipes became a business as they saw a market for people who love real food and crave a homemade taste. Effie's signature Oatcakes now have a chocolate-y twist. Effie's Cocoacakes are crisp, buttery cookies lightly malted and layered with toasted coconut. Deep, dark and oh-so delicious, try them with a glass of cold milk, a mug of hot tea/coffee or crumble on top of your favorite ice cream.

I just want Effie to know how much I love her cookies
I don't know how these are so good. I wish they were easier to find and less expensive. It is good to eat the whole package, because they lose their crispiness -- I usually prefer gooieness but this is perfect - after being open for very long. Effie really hit on something with the coconut, chocolate, and malt combination. It doesn't sound like anything that special, but its deliciousness is blessed and elevated. Once my grocery store put them on half off sale and I got stuck in my head for about 45 minutes near the dairy case arguing with myself about how many packets I could buy without shaming myself to the degree that I could not return to that grocery store ever again. The final answer was six.

Leave off the coconut and I will buy them by the hundreds.
These would be perfect if they weren't coated with coconut dust. The chocolate is delicious. Why Effie's puts coconut dust on them is beyond me. I wish they would consider selling these 'straight up' - I would eat myself to death if there was no coconut on them.

these cookies are fantastically delicious, so much so that I have had to stop ordering them due to overeating them addictively and the also considerable price - although they are worth every penny - the closest to homemade I have eaten in some time!

I really like them with a cup of tea
I bought these because my mother's name was Effie. I really like them with a cup of tea, and it reminds me of her.

The cocoa flavoroed ones need no thing to top them and are (a bit) lower in fat and calories than the plain oat ones.
Though I generally review entertainment products on Amazon I do occasionally review food products and this product was sent to me for an objective review.I received a few samples for review. The largest package was the OATCAKES (their original product) in the 7.2 ounce package with 12 “cookies” in it. A portion –per label – is 2 cookies and total for portion is 170 calories with 9 g of fat. So each one is 85 calories with 4.5 grams of fat. So don’t eat the whole bag – though you may want to.I also got single cookie samples the corn cakes and the nutcakes. There was no nutrition info on them so I assumed that the cocoa ones. With chocolate and coconut in them would have higher calorie count and fat count. I was wrong. I checked their website and these are a bit lower.NUTRITIONAL INFO:Serving size: 2 pieces (34g), Servings per container: 6, Calories 160, Calories from Fat 70, Total Fat 8g (12% DV), Saturated Fat 5g (25% DV), Trans Fat 0g, Cholesterol 15mg (5% DV), Sodium 130mg (5% DV), Total Carbohydrate 21g (7% DV), Dietary Fiber 2g (8% DV), Sugars 9g, Protein 3g, Vitamin A (4% DV), Vitamin C (0% DV), Calcium (2% DV), Iron (4% DV). Percent Daily Values (DV) are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. Made in a facility that also processes eggs, milk, peanuts, soy and tree nuts. The ingredients are simple with no chemicals or anything I could not pronounce. While the oatcakes and corncakes can be enhanced with a topping of mild cheese, I can’t think of why you’d want to put anything on these. They are tasty as is and any topping would mask the flavor. .I hope you found this review both informative and helpful.Steve Ramm“Anything Phonographic”
