They are great Bosch Expert is top quality I used them before and now I bought some for myself In the video you will see how they go through hard wood like it is butter

Unlike a standard spade bit these have a screw thread on the front end rather than a spike, so they actively pull themselves through the timber. This makes for fast and low effort drilling, but the finish is rougher than I can achieve with my other spade bits, and they tend to split the timber at the surface. With a normal spade bit you can control the plunge rate, but these dictate it for you. All of this is fine for things like drilling holes through framing studs for services, but not for tasks that require a neater and more controlled cut, such as lock fitting. So, choose wisely what you use these for. On the right task they're good, on an unsuitable cut they'll ruin your finish. The full retail price of over 45 quid is crazy, especially as there is no storage box, but if you get them discounted they're better value. They come in a plastic blister pack along with an extension rod for deep hole drilling. Four stars.

Great purchase right size good value for money.

If you need to drill large holes in wood, and have never used these before, your dreams are about to come true. They are phenomenal. For example, using ordinary, new, flat bit to drill 10 joists for pipe run would be very tedious, slow and smoky. Probably about 2 mins for big joist, requiring considerable physical effort to apply constant pressure. These bits whizz through in 3-4 seconds, zero effort required
