A book everyone should read and learn from
I've known Alan for about 60 years and Jan for some 50, so feel I amwell placed to give an opinion on Jan's book. It is obviously writtenfrom the heart and gives just a small insight into the difficulties theyboth endured for so long. If there were V.C's given for loyalty anddedication, Jan would get one for her tigerish fight for Alan and hewould get one for coping with difficulties(people and circumstances)with such humour. Jan hardly touches on the difficulties of their life,we should all read her book and learn from it.Well done Jan, 5 starread!

Alan
Alan was one of the most remarkable people its been my privilage to know. His attitude to life was that obstacles are there to be overcome, who else would have gone out and bought an american camper van and driven it home by pushing the pedals with an umbrella!.He was only able to squeeze every drop out of life with the love and dedicated support he got from his family, especially his diminutive wife Jan who I always think of as the Mighty Atom. This is a " must read " book, You will not be disapointed.

Inspiring read!
I found this a very frank and moving tribute to a brave and funny man from his loving, feisty wife and daughter. It tells of the devastation a sudden accident had on them all.No self pity, just details of their daily struggles …. Which were many! Interspersed with a father and mother’s pride in their two children’s achievements despite everything they as a family had to endure…. Shock, complete change of life and home, frustrations with “the Powers that be”! Lack of money….. but overall a story of family love

Inspirational true story of a courageous positive family
What an inspirational true story of this family’s positivity, told straight from the heart of such a courageous devoted wife and mother. What an incredible family, living life to the full and dealing with whatever challenges came their way. I did not find this a story of doom and gloom more a story of overcoming challenges, love and family.

Ok
It isn't the best written book, but it might interest people who knew him

Not what I expected, thought it was going to be a tribute to Alan.
I loved reading about Alan, he was a true gentleman ,it's just a pity the book was totally spoilt by his wife spouting off, running down neighbors even suggesting the pony club members were envious of Lorna. She came across as a very bitter woman... I am 100 %sure Alan would not have been impressed.

I enjoyed this book: happy memories of a very special man. A favourite at Winsford Hospital where he sometimes received care. Well done the family....

A Loving Memoir of Commitment to a Disabled Husband
I read this book to better understand the life of a caregiver. Janette Button's book is written in loving tribute to her recently deceased husband who survived tragedy, persevered in the face of adversity and lived his remaining years by the mantra of NSTAC ("No Such Thing As Can't"). Real Mr. Button takes you behind closed doors to reveal the reality of life of those afflicted by a life-changing disability. Sometimes a journal of key events, other times written to provoke thought, It explores the raw emotions of all touched by the tragic circumstances; from the victim himself, to his children and especially his loving wife and caregiver. The author does not sugar-coat it. There are light moments, tender moments, times of despair, of anger and yes self-pity. Until you've walked in someone's shoes, it's tough to even comprehend. Slip them on for just one day. I dare you. Read it as if you are indeed in her shoes. This book offers compassionate view through the eyes of a caregiver and its lifetime of commitment; including guidance and reference information that may be of aid to others who find themselves in similar situations. Thanks for the candid look. And RIP Mr. Button.
