I have search for pearl barley in my grocery stores for several years… but all the Carrie is this quick cook barley, which never gets soft enough no matter how long you cook it. However THIS BARLEY is just perfect, just like what my mom always used for soups.Great taste, easy to cook with, and great price considering how many bags you get.Perfect for extra fiber and bulk in beef and vegetable soup, turkey soup, etc.I personally like to transfer them from the bag into a plastic container to make sure no pantry bugs/weavels get into them but only after i freeze them for a few days like i do rice to help kill any insect eggs that may be in them. I did not see any eggs or bugs but i am always cautious with all grains like that.

I love this brand! I add barley to soups, stews, and multi grain chili too. This brand cooks easily and the texture is perfect. Being able to get 4 bags makes it a great value and also very convenient. Definitely worth keeping in the pantry as the weather gets cooler.

One of the bags arrived broken and all i are dustier than most pearled barley. However, it has been delicious. I cooked it in a rice cooker without soaking and it turned out great. Also mixed it with quinoa, wild rice, and brown rice; it really elevated the grain mix.

I made soup-in-a-jar gifts for my friends, and this amount was exactly what I needed to complete the gifts.

These can be used in various ways of course in cooking, but my primary reason for purchasing them was to mill them into flour to use in bread baking and for that they work perfectly. After milling I keep the flour in the freezer as now with the oils exposed to air it can turn rancid. When needed I just remove from the freezer to use in baking, and grind more whenever needed.

I had no issues with debris as some others have said. This is a high-quality product. I 100% recommend.
