Blast from the past
Had this book (as part of a 3 book collection) when I was a child 40 odd years ago. Was instantly transported back to those times as soon as I leafed through it. As well as the enjoyment I felt reliving my childhood, its also a book that my 5 year old will enjoy too.

A monstrous nostalgia trip.
Having bought the reissue of the ghosts book in the same series a few years ago, I was pleased to see that this too was enjoying a new lease of life. The colourful illustrations took me back to being an 8 year old in the local library and made me realise how much these books fuelled my imagination and have given me an abiding interest in the mysterious and macabre! Excellent as a gift for the creepy kids in your life, or as a nostalgia trip for adults who still hope that there might be something lurking under their bed!

Blood, beasts and bloomin ridiculous
I had the full reprint version of this back in the 90's and couldn't put it down. Even then I remember pouring through it a thousand times, trying to draw giant squid and dragons with felt tips and thumbing through my encyclopedias trying to match the sasquatch locations to the maps inside. Of course now I'm older and wiser, but this book is still lovely. Fantastic artwork, toeing over the line with the gore and 'creative' interpretations of Loch ness monster sightings. Sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy some memories and any kids who read this will have their imagination fizzing just like you did too. Now to pick up the ghosts volume and have a heart attack everytime I turn to THAT page all over again.

Nostalgic fun
I remember reading this series as a child and enjoyed revisiting it! Being a paperback, the book does feel quite flimsy but it’s still fun to have a read through it.

That Lambton worm though!
An awesome reprint of an awesome book loved it when I was a kid and still love it now. The story of the Lambton Worm was my favourite with John Lambton clad in spiked armour hacking it to pieces - and it's all there in its gory glory. Brilliant!

This is exactly as I remembered it. Imagine flipping through this while Leonard Nimoy narrates another even-further-out episode of "In Search Of..." In retrospect, it's probably not good that all of us who grew up in the 70's were fed pseudoscience and psychical phenomena as if they were facts and lesson (seems like many of us have become a very credulous bunch now... with a brood of even more credulous children), but if you're able to distinguish the difference between fact and fiction, between documentary and fiction, then this will be a great book for you. It's a view into a past that really shouldn't have been, where almost every kids' story (not just Santa Claus) was repeated around campfires and some adult legends were added in for extra spice. It's a makebelieve textbook. If you can appreciate that, you'll love it.
