Good buy for the money.
5lbs of honey is a good buy....when it's $17.99. Ive been seeing this item fluctuate from $17.99 all they way to $29.99. The honey has a good rich flavor to it as it seems to be a darker honey. It seems like the darker the honey the richer the flavor and a thicker consistency. For those of you that don't know, honey does not go bad. It sugars or crystalizes. So if you get your honey in a plastic jug, transfer it to a glass canning jar. As pictured I used a ball jar (the shorter one) and an old moonshine jar. This way if/when the honey does sugar I fill a small pot half to 2/3 full of water, take the cap off the jar and set it on the bottom of the pot in the center and then set the jar on top of the cap. This helps keep the bottom of the jar off the direct heat. Then turn the burner on to Madison heat and let it go for about 30min to 1 hr depending on the size of jar you're heating up. My grandfather was a bee keep and always canned his honey in glass jars for this very purpose. It's much faster this way than filling up a sink full of hot water and setting a plastic jug in it ot standing there holding the bottle under the running water. I only gave 5 stars for the packaging because the plastic jug it comes in is the most logical for shipping purposes.

Seems great for mead
I bought this specifically to try for a gallon of mead (and some extra honey). I brewed 2 gallons of mead in other containers using other honey so I'm able to get a good gauge of how they are all doing in comparison to each other. A few of the other reviews had me a bit worried as they stated they did not ferment as well as their local honey. It's been roughly 4 days later on the gallon using this honey and a little over 5 days on my other honeys. I'm very glad to say that the fermentation in the mead using this honey is doing great. It's bubbling up really well and has basically caught up to the other 2 gallons. All three are using D47 yeast with 1 tsp of DAP nutrient and 3 lbs of honey. My only issue with this honey is that when I opened it I obviously gave it a big smell to compare to my other honey. The lake shore was DEFINITELY WAY more potent in smell. Compared to my others it was a really "heavy" smell. I gave it a taste though and it tasted fine. I'm very curious to see how it turns out in comparison to my other mead.2 of the gallons were "plain" mead. One was Lake Shore. The third is a melomel using oranges.Overall, the price is right on this. It's pretty amazing at the price for the quantity on this one. I'll definitely be continuing my recipe experiments using this stuff. 2 jugs will net you enough honey to make 3 gallons for less than $40 with honey to spare. A steal!I'll try to remember to follow up when it's done in some months time.

Ordered twice - first time great - second time questionable...
I loved the first two I bought together.....great value....so ordered 2 a second time.... this time - flavor and texture much different - seemed to be less honey and appeared to be syrupy - so unsure - ordering different item next time....

Best Honey for the Price and Taste!!!
I just ordered my 4th batch (I think) and I absolutely love this gem of a product for the combination of: great taste, exceptional consistency, best value, and being absolutely good for the health. For last 3-4 years now, I have started taking a glass of warm water, honey, lemon, and Sat-Isabgol (Psyllium Husk) , which I buy locally, first thing in the morning. This honey, along with rest of the things, makes me feel awake and provide a ton of health benefits as well.I recently bought a store brand honey for wife and kids (they make a mess pouring from the big bottle) and cannot even begin to explain how horrible that honey tasted, made me appreciate Lake Shore Honey even more. I almost feel tempted to buy a big batch of this honey and sell it locally, I am absolutely sure I can sell it all in a very short amount of time, once people get to taste a bit of this honey!

A mead-making standard
Since quarantine I've picked up the hobby of brewing small batches of wine, cider and mead. In the process I've tried most 5lb bottles of honey you can find on Amazon in around this price range. This honey yields a very complex and floral taste in meads that lingers even in semi-dry meads. I actually find it a bit overwhelming by itself and so I use it in a blend with a mild single-varietal like orange blossom or clover. You can find a better deal overall if you buy larger amounts of honey and I wouldn't use this by itself, but this is a great mead-making honey for someone wanting to taste the honey in their homebrewed mead.

I love honey
Well let me tell you..I'm addicted to honey I put it on everything and in my coffee..and i seen this brand of honey so I had to give it a try..it's pretty good.. it's not raw honey which is my favorite..but I think that you will enjoy it..as for as the price i would like it if they would knock off two or three dollars..but it is still worth the price.

Five Stars
as advertised! UPDATE!! I put this in a cider I made. The cider turned out awesome! I did not go crazy with the honey! It was used instead of using sugar. Next time I use this it will be in a mead(yum)! The honey has a heavyer taste then I am used to(clover honey). But I think this honey would do just fine! Using another brand for this time around!, but feast a shore I will be using these guys again!
