Monster Clay Premium Grade Modeling Clay - Hard - (4.5lb)

Generally excellent. One of the containers I have purchased had little hard balls in them - almost like little pieces of rocks or unmixed clay, and exact color of the clay has varied across purchases, but no other clay I have used is as good for sculpting as this clay.

If you're coming from Super Sculpey, there is a learning curve as this seems to be more of a carving medium. I tried both the medium and the hard variations and, even though I really like Super Sculpey because it is soft and can be blocked out really quickly by moving the clay around, I like the hard version of this clay. When heated up, it is relatively easy to block out and it cools quickly so that it can be carved. The clay takes and holds details very well and is great for molding. I have not casted it yet but it can be heated to the point of a thick liquid so I imagine it would be a good casting medium as well.

I bought this and accidentally got the very hard one that was on me tho. It’s very good quality clay does exactly what it needs to and more. Easy to work with when warm. For a beginner I’d recommend the softest version.

This is the best oil clay I ever used. I do recommend the medium clay, for complete beginners, & graduate to the hard.
