Maybe the blonde shades perform better than the dark ones?
I am surprised at the poor reviews. I used a very light blonde shade, #1000. Maybe the blonde shades perform better than the dark ones. Anyway, the first thing I noticed was the ammonia smell. I have been coloring my hair for a long, long time and haircolor always used to smell like this, so it didn't bother me. I followed instructions exactly for touch-up. It was fairly easy, no harder than touch ups with any other type of colorant. My hair is long, but there was plenty of colorant to do it with one package. When finished, I thought the result was so pretty! The color was beautiful, and almost glowed. And my hair felt silky and smooth. I went out to supper that night and received lots of compliments. Since then, even strangers have stopped and complimented my hair. The pretty results lasted for about three weeks, then started to oxidize into a goldish tone. This always happens to my haircolor, but this one lasted longer. For example, the Olia lasted all of a week. I have only used it once, but plan to continue unless it appears that the ammonia is causing damage (which I doubt.). I was very pleased with the result.

Expensive and worst hair dye, Zero stars
L'oreal Paris Superior Preference Mousse hair color does not work. Worst hair color I've used. Should have listened to the other Amazon reviewers, as well as numerous other websites and even on L'oreal's own website! I left a review on Loreal's website for this product a couple of months ago and now can't even find this product (or reviews) there, so assume that there were so many complaints that they're discontinuing it? But cosmetics companies are always discontinuing products, so that's nothing new. Followed the directions and even left the hair color (400 Pure dark brown) on longer to help dye the gray hairs, but this mousse formulation did not color my hair well and left the gray hairs gray. Couldn't tell that my hair was colored. Other Loreal hair dye/color products work fine. If you want a mousse type hair dye that does work, try their Sublime Mousse as it works for me, unlike this Superior Preference Mousse. The pump idea is good (use only what you need, good for touch ups, etc. so no waste) but I used the whole bottle of Superior Preference Mousse and didn't get any results!

NO MESS, NO MIX, NO WORRIES!!
I love L'Oreal Mousse!! It's absolutly the easiest thing I have ever done. I am disabled, and have had quite a time, over the last 30 years, trying to color my hair. I used to get more on my face than i did on my hair!! But not anymore!! The mousse is insanely easy to use, no mixing no mess, no fuss, just like they say. And the coolest thing ever, is, you can save the extra for future colorinng!! Thank you for this wonderful product!! It's the least scariest hair color of all time!! P.S. I have used 3 different colors of the Mousse, and each one has been over the top gorgeous, and colors every bit of my grey!! You will never regret buying this product. Thank you L'Oreal. J.T.

So convenient to use, love the premise of it
Love the concept of using only what you need and save the rest for later, but a couple things you should know. First major thing is to shake extremely well before you begin, this allows any product that has settled to get into the mix. The premise of this product is that it has 2 separate sides of solution and only when you spray the foam for use does the product mix, activating the dye. The second major thing is that if you have stubborn gray... like I do unfortunately, any product does need to stay on longer than the recommended time. This may be different for blonds since it is a lighter color and also because it does contain harsher chemicals. I am dark brown with no salt & pepper in the mix, white/silver roots completely. So for me, if I leave any product on the recommended time I still see the roots, but they are "tinted' a lighter shade of brown. I leave the color on for as long as an hour. This prodcut is so convenient to use and does work well as a root touch up system.... with enough time as mentioned. It really is as unmessy as you can get. I use this product and also Perfect 10, another of my favorites, I do leave both on the same way.

Very nice product if it gives you what you wanted
I wanted something to cover gray/ whitening hair, and the ability to re-use the original bottle rather than have to buy an entire new bottle just to redo the roots each month was very appealing. Although I was somewhat hesistant due to some of the reviews, I figured I did not have much to lose, and as it turns out, I lost nothing. For example, the stickiness mentioned by several other users turned out to occur only after applying the conditioner at the end of the original application. The stickiness completely disappeared once my hair dried. On the next regular shampoo I used the conditioner again, but hey, no stickiness at all! So I figure that the stickiness is some kind of artifact related to the initial use and perhaps facilitates the conditioning effect. My hair still remains well conditioned, which surprises me when I think of my other hair color experiences. However, I don't consider the effect to be "shiny." I would have liked some glossiness to my hair. Another pleasant result was the fact that all my gray/ white was well covered and so I hope this will continue to be the case as I add more years. I had been having trouble getting full coverage with other products that promised gray coverage. I was pleasant surprised to find that the color itself does produce a variety of shades as a finished product which does make the effect more natural. Since using this product, I have read the label more carefully and discovered that this is a color product which actually intends to produce color highlights/ shades when applied. But for a color billed as Pure Darkest Brown, I was disappointed in the strong redness that comes through. I prefer "cool" browns. Suppose I will have to live with it, but I hope L'Oreal enhances the color options by breaking the colors down with choices to select "cool" vs "warm" shades of each color. My recent more careful reading of the box information also revealed a strange fact: the user, irregardless of the original color of their hair, and irregardless of the color inside the box, is not recommended for them!!!! That just doesn't make any sense at all. So don't become discouraged in selecting the best color for use with your current hair color because nothing sold under this label (Superior Preference Mousse) will be recommended for you!!!! Kinda unbelieveable, huh?

My hair is a great colour and it's very soft
I've been dying my hair for 25+ yrs and have used just about every brand on the market. I have very long hair that is about 50% grey. This was a difficult review because of the pros and cons. I would give 5 ☀️for colour and coverage. Dark and rich covered the grey very well. I would give it 1⭐️for ease of use. The problem is that the foam is difficult to apply and feels dry and so it doesn't cover the hair properly. When you use a cream colour you apply it then smooth it through. The foam you apply it then rub it in til it turns to cream. This means you can only do small areas at a time. It took 2x as long as it usually does and it was very messy. Will I use it again ??? I'm not sure. My hair is a great colour and it's very soft. Also 1 bottle did all my hair. But the time and mess is a turn off

I can't say enough good things about its ease of use
When I grew weary of spending $250 per month for color and cut at my local salon, I started using this product. That was about 3 years ago. One day I could no longer find the Mousse Absolue on the Walmart or Target shelves. Thank goodness I am have been able to find it on Amazon. I am currently finishing the supply I bought last summer with no problem with shelf life. I just purchased 5 more boxes. For my hair, I can get to 2 applications. It covers my grey perfectly every time and leaves my hair shiny and soft. I can't say enough good things about its ease of use. I wonder why all hair color isn't sold this way. I can't tolerate the mixing required with other colors. I tried to use the other L'oreal product for my hair color but it did not color as well nor did it shine and it was a hassle. Unfortunately, I think L'Oreal discontinued this product so I stock up when i can on Amazon.

kind of like soapy water
I gave this product 1 star simply to be able to write my review. I'm sorry to say that this product was completely ineffective. It contained no color. All that was in the canister was some white foamy stuff, kind of like soapy water. I shook it over 100 times (yes....I counted) and all that came out was white foam. I left it sitting on its top in hope that it the color might be stuck in the bottom and would work its way up. Several days later, I tried it again....to no avail. I'm sorry for the vendors because they apparently got ripped off, too. It will cost more than it's worth to return the almost empty container, so I guess I just lost my money on this. I must add that I used to buy this product in a local store and it was wonderful. Unfortunately, it's no longer available where I live. L'Oreal needs to know that it's getting a bad name with this.
