Shiver Me Timbers--Okay, Skip That!
A distinguished cast in a top swashbuckling vehicle. I saw this as a kid, a youth, during my married years, in middle age, and now I own it in my full maturity. It grows more than it retreats in my mind. Everyone seems to be enjoying his- (her)- self and that adds just the right seasoning. Swans are fascinating as symbols. A Black Swan often describes a naughty lady, bawdy but not truly evil. As opposed to a Red Dragon that frequently denotes a scarlet woman who has crossed that wicked line. But here the symbol is less sweeping. This film almost earns that fifth star -- almost.
