Q: The instructions state "use only alkaline batteries" and "not rechargeable." Has anyone used NI-MH rechargeable batteries? Results?

Rechargeable batteries work, however keep in mind that because rechargeables are 1.2V each, and alkaline batteries are 1.5V, you will be running the battery at a total voltage of 2.4V instead the the 3.0V under which the flashlight was designed. That means that you would be running the flashlight at a voltage of 80% less than it was intended. You WILL notice a difference in brightness. However, if that is not a problem for you it works just fine with rechargeable batteries.

Q: I just got my flashlight and I like it so far, but I can't figure out how to turn on the SOS function and the flashing light function. Any ideas?

This flashlight has four functions: Steady, bright; steady, dim; flashing; flashing SOS. Each function is accessed by turning the flashlight on, off, and back on in rapid succession. For example, to access the dim function, turn the flashlight on then off then back on. On-off-on-off-on-off-on will put the flashlight in SOS mode. Have fun!

Q: There are two different mini maglites is this the regular mini one or is this the one that is realy small? like the mini mini?

The "mini mini" is called the solitaire. Uses a aaa battery.

Q: What are the dimensions?

When off, the case is 6-7/16" long. Length increases by 1/8" as the lens is twisted from off to spot. The case is 11/16" diameter at the batteries. The lens/led assembly is 2-1/16" long, 3/4" on one end and 1/32" shy of an inch at the lens.
