This is a sturdy, nice looking treasure chest. Mine didn't come with instructions but the keys and padlock are inside the chest. There is a gold plastic cover and bull nose ring that come off the lock on the outside. Throw those away. They were just for shipping. You can now open the chest and take out the keys! Have fun!

My granddaughter (age 3) suddenly wanted a "treasure hunt". So I ran all over the house and yard, taking pictures of identifiable objects, printed out the pics and then attached the next picture to each object. I drew a map so she could run back and put each pic on the map before dashing to the next. She had a BLAST (of course now wants to do another one). It culminated with this treasure box with a few coins in it. She now does "chores" for us that we pay her for, and she proudly adds it to her treasure chest. I put her and her sister's names on them (vinyls) and she continues to be excited at adding to it. These are sturdy enough that a 3 year old open and closes them without difficulty, though we aren't bothering to use the locks at this point, just the little plastic ring that went through them.

I did a little treasure hunt with my son and this worked perfectly. The only negative is the lock that’s made out of plastic broke the day he got it! He was bummed he couldn’t lock it again.

5 year birthday gift. It is small enough for him to carry around and still hold small items. It would not unlock initially. But , I put both keys into the lock and turned them to unlock. After that, it would unlock with the single key.

Didn’t expect very good quality for the price, but the plastic for the locking piece literally crumbled as I took it out of the box. The lock itself was so jammed that it can’t be unlocked. The chest is cool looking and will still work for sitting on a shelf, but would not recommend for children.

This is a great little treasure box. Just pop off the gold plastic piece holding it closed to find the lock and keys.

Bought this with the intention that it was going to be big enough to put small toys in to use as a treasure chest reward box but wasn’t really big enough. Not very sturdy.

Purchased this as part of a birthday gift for my grandson. He loved it!
