I bought these for my newly built trailer walls to secure the gate and front to the side walls. All sides are also secured through stake pockets. *For clarity* I believe the "2000 lb" rating is in regard to it's leveraging strength, NOT it's carrying capacity. I am certain if I hung a 2000 lb weight from this piece, it would mangle and eventually break, although I did not test this. I have looked at MANY options before selecting these for my application and was skeptical. PROS: -Simple, small and light weight -Very strong leveraging and clamping strength considering it's size -"Auto-locking" latch is great... no pins, locks, extra components needed -Easy to install, finished all four in about ten minutes -ADJUSTABLE! Huge benefit here -Easy to "unlock" and operate -Teflon backing nuts ensure your adjustment will hold position indefinitely -Opposite nuts to secure your adjustment and teflon nuts -Rubber handle coating ensures bare-hand safety during operation CONS: (Most are design flaws) -The LARGE pin that the U bolt goes through slides up and down. The U bolt makes TWO points of contact on hook, so the up and down movement of the large pin needs to be CENTERED to hold leverage correctly -The tightening nuts (teflon) are difficult to adjust with a socket due to large pin up and down movement. Requires them to be centered to properly adjust, unless you want to sit there all day with a wrench making adjustments. -The hook end only has TWO holes for screws/bolts/etc. while the lever side has FOUR. Would have like to have FOUR on both sides for strength. The first thing to fail on this set up will be the TWO screws holding the hook 100% -The hook is too high and produces a shearing effect on whatever it's mounted to. Would be better if the hook squatted much closer to mounting surface. This design actually makes the hook weaker and uses more material to create -The hinge is a single steel (I think) riveted pin. Movement of the hinge is stiff. I'm sure after much use it will loosen up AND I suspect after heavy use the riveted end of this pin will fail. Good news if it does fail... you won't lose the lever as it is "locked" by the U bolt on the hook and in the back by the auto-locking lever =] Which means you could repair the device In conclusion I am very pleased with these latches. I'm certain that for the cost, you are getting a great value. Despite several design flaws that could be better, it's a strong latch with many applications on flat plains. I would recommend it easily and I will certainly buy more. I think I'll start with four more to secure the bottoms of my side walls and gates just because I'm impressed with these latches. Hope this helps =]

Product is not made of Stainless Steel as the seller said , it is made by iron , but my purpose is solved for what I have purchased

I was hoping this would work for my 40 year-old aluminum ping-pong table which has been loosening up over the years. The fact that it locks and must be released before opening up is a plus. I just have to remember to open it up before folding up and storing the table. I was assuming I would have to install it on both sides but just on one side works well enough for now.

not really good for what I needed to hold swinging doors

I have used clamps like this hundreds of times at work, but my industrial humidor was the first home project that needed some. These clamps are not only heavy duty but were also exceptionally priced. And because of the low price I was not expecting such excellent quality. There is plenty of adjustment and the entire clamp locks closed. Plus the red on the handles adds a splash of color. In case you are wondering, by design there is not a place to put a padlock. One thing to note though is that the pivot pin, where the adjusting nuts connect, does have some movement when not locked so when mounted on a vertical surface the pin tends to drift downward. This causes the locking wire to be off center with the clasp. It is not a problem because with a push of your finger when locking you can re-center the whole device. But I just thought you would want to know in case your project was meant to be perfect or look gorgeous, which mine was not.
