Tapestry Design Basics and Beyond: Planning and Weaving with Confidence

This is a great book on planning projects. Best for intermediate weavers.

This topic isn’t covered by any other source and it’s extremely important for tapestry weavers. This was a very much needed book for the tapestry community and it’s covered in such extensive detail. It thoroughly detailed with tons of ideas and so many different angels. The pictures are beautiful and are very clear references connected to what’s being discussed in the paragraph. This was my main struggle and I really needed it and I continue to reference it each time I’m designing.

This book exceeded my expectations. It covers what I was looking for, plus explains how you can make your own pipe tapestry loom. It shows a lot of great art in tapestries throughout and teaches the art in tapestries. I am over the moon with this book. The price is a fair price for the excellent book. The book came right away within a few days of ordering. This book is well grounded and in depth enough to satiate my thirst for the subject about tapestry creation and their beauty. I was surprised at the variety of art depictions from serious still life to humorous abstracts and on. I recommend this book to anyone reaching out for some enrichment on the subject.

This is a beautiful book. Oh I’ve recently started taking tapestry classes and this book has been a very big help and a lot of inspiration to me. Of course, shipping and delivery quick and smooth.

This is a great book for a tapestry weaver, but I had issues with two copies I ordered, with the first one, the hardback binding was not secured efficiently, with the spiral binding flopping around, and figured that it would only get worse, and there was no way to reglue it, so I returned it, and ordered another one. The second copy had a deep dent in the hardback cover and bent edges, from not being properly wrapped for shipping. I really want this book, and may try to order a third copy after my prior one has been credited. The book would have worked much better if it was just spiral bound with a plastic or hardcover back and front part of the spiral binding, and not with the spiral binding glued into the hardback cover, with the paper that is glued to hold the spiral binding to the hard binding cover coming away and probably tearing easily with use. It made it hard to turn the pages and not have some get bound up. The simple spiral approach would have made the book work better for regular use, as I intended, and not come apart. Aside from those issues, I think it is a wonderful book for an advanced tapestry weaver, although it would work for someone advancing beyond beginner status as well. The concepts are very well put forth, and the artists work examples to explain some of the techniques. I ordered the prior books and loved them as well...wish the author could redo this book binding, and hope she does not have too many returns for this issue.

This book discusses art concepts and the tapestry techniques to accomplish them, including examples from various tapestry artists. There is so much to learn in weaving tapestries. This book will help make the decisions to best translate your design vision into a beautiful tapestry.

So much in this beautifully written and illustrated book! Will last me a lifetime in my weaving adventures.

I love this book, it was exactly what I was hoping it would be. The tapestry world desperately needed a book like this.I will say, I'm not a fan of the binding. Being spiral bound, I can't use a regular bookmark. I'll have to find one that goes over the page like a clip. I also have a toddler and my reading time is during naps. The pages turning are so loud on the spirals, I can't read this while my boy is napping!But those are just my own personal preferences and have no bearing on the quality of the book overall, so I'm still happy to give full stars for it.If it is ever offered bound like a usual book I will be thrilled to buy it again!

This is a beautiful book and for an artist or student wanting inspiration it is great, unfortunately for me it was waaaay over my head and I reluctantly returned it.

Returned first very damaged copy and received second with some damage as well. Sold standard price so no excuse for “seconds”.The book itself is amazing. The author leads you through the design process in an inspirational way.
