Inexpensive and works great.
Use this meter to align my DirecTv high-definition dish. High winds knock it out of alignment. You will need a short (3-4 feet) piece of coaxial cable also. Install it between the dish and your existing cable. Meter is very sensitive. You will have to decrease the gain quickly or the meter will burn out.

Exactly what I needed
5 stars because after 2 days of trying to lock on (or even find) Galaxy 18 with only a lock/no lock indicator to go by, this meter was exactly what I needed and at a price that you really can't beat.Once I had this meter in hand, I was locked on to the satellite within about 30 minutes. Here was my recipe for success with this thing1. Used a compass and inclinometer phone app to get a rough idea of where the satellite is supposed to be in the sky and pointed my dish there2. Turned the adjustment dial on the side of the meter all the way up (max gain?) - it beeped and showed 99%3. Turned the adjustment dial on the side down until the meter barely registered a signal (5-30%)4. Made minor adjustments to the dish alignment (ele and az) based on feedback on the meter until I was maxed out again (99%)5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until it the signal was as good as I could get it6. I then tweaked the LNB skew and forward/back position in the holder with the same method.I can't speak to the long term durability or quality of the device but it does what is advertised and, again, you can't beat the price.5/5 would buy again.

Seems like a decent product, but it did nothing after powering up.
I don't like to write negative reviews, but this item did not work. It was easy to install on my satellite cable and powered up just fine, but the satellite signal power level indicator should change when the antenna pointing position changes, and it did not change at all. I tried 3 attenuation levels and nothing happened (although the normalized signal level did change from 99 to 81 to 62%). I see that many folks have had success with this device, and others have had the same experience I have, so I assume it's a production quality issue. Just want others to be aware.

Worked good enough
Mine wouldn't show small variation on strength. It seemed to be either on of off type indication. However, that was still good enough to get my dish aimed.

Went Datk
Upon firt using this it was unsuccessful in homing on the Dish Satellites easily found with a iphone satellite finder or a Playmaker.. The display went blank no matter what i tried. I gave up in frustration and connected my #2 coax back the the Playmaker Dual. Weeks from know I will try in in a new location. I will be using it with a portable dish to free myself from the vageries of not being the main user of a Playmaker Dual. If it works fine, if not trashed.

Easy vaule satelite finder.
After a new roof I had to replace my Dish. This unit was easy to setup and attach to my dish. Fast and easy to reinstall my dish. Only down side is it does not identify the satellite signal, had to rely on the tv satellite to identify the satellite. Good value. Hopefully a one time used tool.
