Maglite M2A01L Boxed Mini Mag AA Torch - Black

My lady friend is a strong, independent woman, therefore when she says that she's fine walking down a steep, unlit country road on the way home, who am I to say otherwise? Unfortunately, on a recent walk down there, a car came speeding up the road, full beams a-blazing. Despite this illumination he failed to spot the petite, purple-haired lady, daintily skipping along in her sturdy boots. Her only recourse was to fling herself into the roadside ditch, in so doing causing various cuts and bruises and the total destruction of her mobile 'phone. Upon hearing of this and checking that she was still essentially unharmed I ordered this torch from Amazon. It arrived the next day and was presented to her to use on all future journeys down the unlit road of doom. She assures me that she uses it every time and, to date, she hasn't had to throw herself into a ditch since.

Excellent build quality and an iconic brand, good quality light better than led with the focus element of the lens to have a wide or narrow beam of light. Although not as bright as led.

It may not be a three million lumen LED blind your granny torch that can light up the side of a mountain... but this is great for what it is. It's a standard incandescent bulb driven AA torch which gives off a nice warm light (less clinical and cold than most LED torches) and focusable from a flood setting to a fairly tight beam. Beam specs will never be as good as LED focusable torches but this still has a lot going for its size. The head is turned to activate it and is a silky smooth feel quality feel, nothing like the unsure "gritty" feeling of Maglite-shaped imitation torches. There is even a spare bulb in the tailcap under the battery spring should the one installed blow. I bought this as I suspect incandescent torches won't be around forever, so it mostly stays in its case, but it looks and feels tough enough to be useful in the field. Runs well off two Duracell 1.2V NiMh batteries, also comes with two Alkaline 1.5V duracells.
