Great Above Ground Pool Cleaner!
I had an Aquabot Breeze XLS and the power supply went out. So I decided to try something different and order this Dolphin.... oh my goodness! The difference it makes is amazing! The Aquabot is a lot messier to use and doesn't pick up nearly the debris that this Dolphin does! Plus the Aquabot has 2 baskets and they don't go in to the cleaner part smoothly and you have to put cloth bags inside the baskets in hopes that it will pick the fine debris up... but it doesn't and what it does pick up pretty much comes out when you lift it out of the water. NOT so with the DOLPHIN... it picks up the finest particles just using the basket that came with it and when you lift it out of the water nothing goes back into the water but water! YAY! And, clean up is SUPER easy! The basket fits perfectly and has a spring loaded handle so when you put the basket in the cleaner and close the top, it automatically goes down and the top shuts nice and tight! Then when you open the top of the cleaner, the handle springs up and when you remove the basket, everything stays in the basket. Clean up of the basket is easy... there is a latch on the side that opens the bottom so all the debris falls out and then you just rinse the sides and bottom off... the sides also come off if there's lots of debris you need to rinse off. I have not used the fine particle basket yet as there has been no need! The Dolphin keeps my pool cleaner than it's ever been! The only negative I have is the cord could be a little bit longer. My pool is 33 ft round - we have a room off the deck where the plug is located and it's not near the ground but a little over halfway up the wall so when I plug the power supply in and attach it to the cord, the cord isn't quite long enough to reach to the other side of the pool. That's the only issue. Overall, I love this pool cleaner for ease of use and clean up and the fact it gets all the debris up! The only other negative I have is about the manufacturer who will not answer emails no matter how many I send. I am trying to find out if there is a caddy I can get for this model so I don't have to turn it upside down after every use (I guess that's so the tracks and brush hold their shape.

Great pool cleaner when it works
Good product when it works. Had some issues at first with not cleaning well and sent back. Was told to send all filters so I sent the ultra fine and regular filters I had. Only got the regular filter back but they sent a replacement regular filter instead of the ultra fine when asked for it so I ended up buying another ultra fine filter. Got mixed responses on the problem. One source gave some parts needing replacing and another said there was not any problems. Customer service, when called took days to respond. Had to really stay on top to get things answered so I would not give customer service a good review but the returned "repaired" version works good. Having this robot when it works really makes pool maintenance a lot easier.

The cord!!!!
It is great. Mine is 4 years old and still great but I have to go and untangle the cord ALL THE TIME. I hate the cord. Looking for a great cordless one for my above ground pool.

This thing is amazing
I bought this because I got frantic trying to close my pool when it was getting really cold and started to freeze and didn't have any help. I'm in bad health and don't have the energy or strength to get the leaves off the bottom with a net. When I received this I threw it in the pool and I was amazed on how well it sucked up the leaves and junk. It doesn't use the pump or filter on the pool. It's easy to put it into the pool and get it out and I can lift it when I take it out. It has a basket that needs to be emptied a lot when you have as much junk on the bottom of the pool as I did, and actually still do, but it's easy enough to clean out. The cord doesn't get tangled on it either. I don't have an outlet that's close enough to the house so I use an alternate power supply. You're not supposed to use an extension cord whatsoever. I never got to finish closing the pool correctly but it will be nice to have when it comes time to opening it again. After the initial cleanup in the spring, this will keep the pool clean because it will always eat the leaves that fall into the pool which are a pain in the butt trying to fish them out all the time and it won't have to be emptied as much then. It will pay for itself in the long run because the leaves are what cause more algae and then you have to add more chemicals although I use the BBB method (baking soda, bleach and borax) it's cheaper and more user friendly and make sure you have a professional water test kit. I use the Taylor K2006. After a lot of research I picked this robotic cleaner and don't regret spending the money on it one bit.

Worked great until it didn't.
UPDATE - here is what you are looking at IF you decide to send it in for a repair estimate. First, shipping it back - cost us $75 at the UPS store. Got an email back from Maytronics saying if we want it back unrepaired, we'd have to pay another $95 - $30 for freight shipping and another $65 for their diagnostics (which told us the power supply was the problem - another $242 would be required for a new one, so total repair cost on the invoice they sent us - #337!! This cost us $729 when we bought it. Not a good return on investment when you calculate how many cleanings you actually got out of it before it broke. BUYER BEWARE. I will not recommend this brand to anyone. VERY disappointed with Maytronics quality. Like the title says - it is great when it works. It stopped working out of nowhere. Maytronics wants you to send it in for repair in the box it came in - so keep the box. They will also charge a minimum of $99. to fix it - I guess they'll charge even more if it's complicated to fix? - PLUS return shipping. We bought the insurance through Amazon and that was a huge hassle as well. Maytronics argued with us that it was out of warranty when it clearly wasn't. Have to buy another brand and it won't be this one.

Excellent tool for above ground pool.
Great product. I have similar version for last 6-7 years for above ground pool and hardly ever needed to use vacuum cleaning. Just got a new one and it is working very well too. It can remove all debrid, leaves and algae. It is very easy to clean a filter. You can even keep it in the pool for long time. It can clean a pool walls but I am not Impressed. Highly recommended.

Worth the money!
Wish I had gotten this years ago for our above ground pool. I purchased this at the beginning of the summer and have been using it for the past 3 months. Very happy with the product. Good quality, works amazing at cleaning the pool. I purchased the ultra fine filter that goes with it. It does an amazing job every time and doesn't miss a spot. Navigates around and in between our pool stools and doesn't get tangled. Saves on water as I now backwash the filter much less frequently. I used to vacuum the pool once a week and it took me over an hour. Now I can put the Dolphin in a couple of times a week so the pool stays cleaner and I can do other things while the pool gets a good vacuuming. It takes minutes to clean the filters with a garden hose after each cleaning. Highly recommend for an above ground pool.

It goes in SLEEP Mode after 80 minutes. It needs to come with a remote and filter!
I have edited my review and uped it's rating because the seller responded quickly. Yes this goes into "Sleep Mode" after 60 to 90 minutes. .Is the Dolphin really worth paying double what other robotic cleaners cost? I have only used it 3 times and I am less than thrilled. I think the maker could have come up with a better product description. I just wish it was easier to find out basic facts about this cleaner before purchase. You really shouldn't have to be forced to read dozens of reviews to find out that : (1) It stops working . Usually around 85 minutes but the power control unit doesn't shut off. (1a) that the manufacturer suggest that you wait 30 minutes after you manually shut it off and clean the basket to restart it (2). If you have a large pool it WILL skip areas. The "Mapping" touted by the manufacture seriously needs work (2a) and you will need to turn off the power unit and manually move the pool cleaner to ensure your pool gets clean. (3) It doesn't get up fine particles like sand. There's a very expensive add on that is suppose to do it. (4)The Cleaner doesn't do steps. (5) Unlike it's competition , that's half the price, it doesn't come with a remote. So why did I buy it? Well most of the reviewers Raved about howl it and called it wonderful. I can't help but wonder how the majority of reviews would read if they updated them in 60 days. I'd really like to know how it works for those that live where you can swim year round. I would also like to know what happens when they store it after swim season. Is it still a five star rating? The reviews for the Aquabot I pulled out started with negativity but then most of the reviews I read where a few months old and were talking about how the newer model did't hold up. So it's early days for me and I guess that I still have to decide if I need to buy a different cleaner to compare it with or if I should return this Dolphin Cleaner. So far I can state that, Yes, it "remaps" each time it's inserted into the pool but if you have a larger above ground pool it misses a lot. My pool is an Oval Above Ground that is about 16 X30 . My Pool either has 48” or 52" high steel walls. I don't remember as we buried it so only a couple of feet are above ground. It's a little over 4 feet deep. The Dolphin cleaner only climbs when first activated and then only about 6 inches at most. My pool has a "thru-wall "wide mouth skimmer. It filters a lot debris on the surface and I can maually vacuum it easily but if a robot could do it with a minimum of fuss why should I? This pool cost a lot of money. I bought the cleaner mainly for the "off season" so that it would be easier to reopen the pool next year. So far I am not certain this was such a great investment. We have put a lot of money into the pool. 2 summers ago we bought pool steps to make entry/exit easier. The Cleaner doesn't do steps and that's understandable I guess. It does seem to like to "pop wheelies " in the middle of the pool at which point sometimes the lid for the skimer basket inside of it opens . I then have to turn it off. Bring it to the side of the pool, reach down grab the handle pull it up( and that Dolphin is a lot heaver full of water than going in So Always use the handle) pull it up and close the lid and restart. Yes it has lost all of the material that was previously in the basket. So at this point it's starting over at square one. Yes, I realize that this pool cleaner is like an indoor "Roomba" but at almost $700.00 American dollars if it decide to stop working it should go back to where it entered the pool and power off like the roomba. At this price point it SHOULD come with everything needed like a "fine particle basket". It would also be very nice if it came with a remote controller that way you could direct it to the areas it missed when you have to restart it. It didn't arrive on time but I don't blame the seller or Amazon as I have horrific mail carriers. I have only had it about a week . I am less than trilled that I have to go out and move the cleaner to areas it missed and then restart it to get my pool clean, When it does work it picks up large items. Yesterday an afternoon shower came along. Somehow my chlorine dispenser lost its lid and lost a 3" tablet. I ran the cleaner in the evening. It ran for 84 minutes exactly then stopped. However, I was happily surprised to see that when I picked the cleaner up by the handle and took it out of pool along with a few leaves, some grit, there was a chlorine tablet! I am so happy that it picked this up as it could have damaged my liner. I am still not sure for this amount of money if I am going to keep it. I really feel that in the product description it should state that it stops and doesn't pick up fine particles. The Aquabot states "...propels through the water to automatically brush, vacuum and micro-filter dirt, debris and contaminants. " The Aquabot also clearly states that it shuts off after a certain time period. Some models even come with a remote! Seriously it's half the price of this one. I just don't know if the Dolphin cleaner is worth all the extra money. I have't tried putting it on a timer yet so I can't speak to if or how that works. I have a couple of weeks to figure out if I am keeping it. I may bite the bullet and get another cleaner and do a side by side comparrison but I really can't afford two. I don't know if I will keep it. . It started out as expected I was so excited when it arrived. I carefully read and followed the directions. Placed it gingerly in the pool.I plugged it in. I pushed the power button and the Dolphin Escape Robotic Above Ground Pool Cleaner started right up the wall. My son and I watched it for a bit. He remarked that it looked like a smaller version of the one our local Aquatic fitness center uses and that it's like a Roomba for pools. So as we have a house Roomba I didn't expect it always get everything. So far I have tried using the Dolphin Escape Robotic Above Ground Pool Cleaner three times. Each time it just stops working. The power is on it's going along great and then before it has cleaned half the pool it just stops. I have had to turn off the power and wait 30 minutes. I go back outside. I check the "trash basket:, which hasn't been clogged or full but I dump out the basket and replace anyway. I then reposition the Dolphin Escape Robotic Above Ground Pool Cleaner to the unclean areas in the pool . I press the power button and it starts back up and goes to work. It does Seriously for Over $600.00, which is twice what the competiton cost, why should I keep it?
