Shifter's Wolf (Aralorn Novels)

At the beginning of the novel, Patricia Briggs says that it isn't the best thing she's written, and I can accept that . . . but the rest of what she says doesn't ring that same bell. I real Laurel K. Hamilton, and many others - and I found 'Shifters Wolf' to be the equal of many of their stories, and better than some. If this is what she thinks of her early works, I wish I were young enough to read her work in 20 more years. Her maturity as an author is visible, but not, I think, harmful to the story, which I found absorbing, and quite excellent.I read nearly anything, since I'm a disabled Vietnam Veteran, and have the time to do so - and my favorite are SF and FSF novels, but I read action stories, westerns, spy novels - and so far, she is 'as good as it gets'.

I was looking all over for these two books at a reasonable price, only to find this. It packages them together nicely so I didn't have to purchase two separate books. It also enabled me to point out to the darling boyfriend that I'm a technically only getting one book, so I really deserve another.

I like Patricia Briggs' modern werewolf series, but had not read any of her earlier books. The first of the 2 books in this volume is good, but not as well done as the second. These books are not as good as the later series, author has improved with experience. Nevertheless, this volume is worth reading: a good story line and good characters.

I accidentally purchased thinking it was part of her Alpha and Omega series, which is an offshoot of her Mercy Thompson series, both of which I enjoy.On reading the introduction, that this was a re-worked version of her first book, I started reading and enjoyed it tremendously. Her few somewhat anachronistic phrasings stood out, but did not greatly detract.I finished thinking, if this was her first efforts, I am definitely going to read her other earlier works, and have bought "Steal the Dragon" as a result.

This book kept my interest, had some interesting, unexpected twists and turns, and did not contain graphic sex scenes, so I would recommend it to both old and young readers. The story immerses you in a different time and land, with enough familiarity to my world that it was easy to comprehend while putting you in a fantasy world.

My introduction to Patricia Briggs, and it was fabulous. Briggs is a strong author when it comes to world building, the rules of her magic, dialogue, and building up the relationships with lots of realism. Strongly recommend her if you like fantasy, adventure, action, and a touch of romance.

INSTEAD IT IS A REISSUE OF TWO EARLY EARLY BOOKS PACKAGE TOGETHER WITH A NEW TITLE AND NEW COVER (AT FIRST GLANCE THE BOOK SEEMS TO BELONG TO THE ALPHA AND OMEGA SERIES BY THE SAME AUTHOR). IT IS MY OWN FAULT BUT IT IS ANNOYING. SO BUYER BEWARE AND READ THE PRINT.

My youngest daughter introduced me to Patricia Briggs and I have been avidly reading all of her books, often times pre-ordering them, now that I have Prime. As a first book, you can see the extrem potential that Briggs brought to the world of Fantasy and can appreciate how much work she put into both of these novels. I enjoyed them both as first books and for the great writing.

The person I bought this for is very happy with it.

The first half is Patricia Briggs' first novel. Even so, it is better than most books around. The characters are well drawn.
