I was really torn - but these are excellent!
I have to admit that I wasn't 100% sure if ordering these was a great idea. I wasn't nervous about the product itself; but, more about the price per gallon.Prior to these WaterBrick containers, I had 2 55 gallon drums filled with water for emergencies. I always felt like that wasn't quite enough for our family - but didn't have space to store additional drums...When I discovered the WaterBricks, I probably would have just blown them off if it weren't for these factors:- First of all, I started calculating how these things stack together and realized I could get more than double the amount of water in the same space. In my case, I created 3 stacks of bricks that have 3 bricks per level and that are 8 levels deep. That works out to a total of 72 bricks with 3.5 gallons of water apiece in a slightly smaller space than my 2 55 gallon drums were using!- These are far more portable than the drums were. The 3.5 gallon bricks are easily moveable, even for my girls - which makes them far more usable and flexible. The handle on each brick adds to the portability.- It's also a lot easier to get water out of the WaterBricks than a drum. No more need for any siphons or pumps.- I love how these bricks interlock together! The pictures all show 2 bricks on a level; but, they are far more flexible than that. In my case, I'm using 3 per level and the entire stack is 100% stable. You really can do just about any configuration you want, and I even considered interlocking 9 bricks together on each level.Although I can't say enough good about these in general, there are a couple of issues to consider:- They are expensive, which will rule them out for a lot of people. If they were 1/4 of the cost, I suspect this would be the best option for almost everybody.- I rotate our water storage every year, and I can already see that it's going to be more of a pain with the WaterBricks - simply because there are so many of them. Instead of just dumping and refilling 2 drums, I now have to dump and refill 72 bricks.Having said that, it also gives me the option of spreading the water around the yard more evenly; and, with the kids helping, it doesn't take much longer than dumping the drums. Once the kids are gone, I may rethink that. :)Overall, if you're able to justify the expense, I would highly recommend using these WaterBricks. If you're looking to get as much water as possible into a limited space, these things are excellent!
