Clever and fun
My 4/5 yo loves this book! I am a dietitian so getting him interested in food is important. This exposes him in a healthy way and sparks curiosity. “Kitchen magic”

Excellent series
This is one of a series of cookbooks for children and by far my favorite because it helps children, (and adults) understand the outcome they get when cooking.

Science and cooking for kids combined!
The media could not be loaded. This book caught my attention with its covers what 9 yr old girl want to make a cake with galaxy-esque frosting?!? Mine would, at least! The book is hardcover with eye-catching photos! I bought this book with hopes of combining my daughter’s love of science experiments with our combined enjoyment of baking. We have yet to make the recipes but at first glance, this book looks pretty cool! The recipes are grouped together with different science questions to explore, like “browning,” “umami,” and “spices.” I was also excited to see that this book was put out by America’s test kitchen, because I love their line of cookbooks! I will say that this book might be for slightly older tweens because it includes recipes for cooking things like steak and salmon, which might not be as interesting to younger kids, like my 9 yr old.

Less exciting than I expected
The media could not be loaded. This is a great cookbook. It’s more of a learning cookbook than a science cookbook. Don’t get me wrong. It has a lot of science explanations. And I have actually learned a lot. But a lot of the experiments aren’t like amazing. I guess I was expecting all recipes to be exploding volcanoes so my expectations were maybe a bit high for a kid cookbook. My little one enjoys it and she loves reading the explanations and making the recipes even if we don’t carry out the experiment. So I definitely would give it five out of five stars. I think that it would be hard to create a science cookbook that had all amazing experiments so they did a good job.

Perfect Christmas Gift for a STEM lover
We gifted this book to our nephew for Christmas. He is a little science genius who loves his experiments and little gadgets but also loves cooking and helping his mommy in the Kitchen. This book was a perfect combination. He ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT. He loves the fact that the book explains the science of cooking, so gets to learn and continue to inquire while making tasty treats.

Recipient loves it!
Gave to a science-loving little girl under 10 and she and her mum hit the ground running with the mirror glaze cake on the cover— which was apparently a rousing success. Thinking of getting a copy for myself as well!

Another winner from ATK kids
Purchased this as a 2021 Christmas gift for my son (9), but couldn't resist reading it when he was at school. He's already cooked his way cover to cover through their cookbook, baked half of the baking book and will love this release too. I can't wait until he makes the cake on the cover. That icing is gorgeous.
