.com The Disney animated films of any given period all seem to be cut from one big piece of the same brightly colored cloth. Whatever their sources, they have all been seamlessly Disneyized. The Winnie the Pooh shorts are typical products of the Wolfgang Reitherman period of the '60s and '70s, supervised by the animation director responsible for The Sword in the Stone and The Jungle Book. It's jaunty, tuneful stuff, but produced on the cheap, crude, and sketchy-looking in comparison with recent peak achievements of Disney craftsmanship such as Mulan. This second installment (1968) takes off from one of the most stirring episodes in the second of A.A. Milne's books of stories about Christopher Robin and the Hundred Acre Woods crew, "The House at Pooh Corner," in which the wood weathers a storm and even a flood, and the animal chums learn to pull together in an emergency. Think of it as a disaster movie for the preschool crowd. --David Chute

Probably the best pooh movie ever
One of the best animated shorts ever (not just of winnie the pooh, but of the children's genre as a whole). There's a reason why it won an academy award. And the heffalump dream sequence is classic.Sadly, they don't make them like this anymore. Even watching some of the newer winnie the pooh movies that claim to be made 'in the spirit of classic pooh' fall utterly short. Don't be fooled by the new fangled movies (like the heffalump movie) - The Blustery Day is the real deal.

Excellent movie
My only issue is that the cover art is different than what’s here but it’s the same movie I grew up with.

wrong movie
i didn't receive the blustery day episode, but rather the eeyore's birthday one (in the blustery day box).my daughter loves it all the same, but if i were trying to complete a collection or something, i'd be a bit irritated.the tape plays fine, with minimal scrolling.

A couple of blank spots
II got this VHS tape and it seemed to be perfect but about 3/4 way through there were 3 or 4 blank spots. I don't know if it was age or what, but it was still a lot of fun to watch this old favorite with my granddaughter.

Childhood slush - luvverly!
Anyone but anyone who likes Pooh and friends will love this video. The characters are endearing and the dream sequence where Pooh sees dancing pink elephants (it's amazing what honey does to a guy) is mesmerising. The whole story is comical and Pooh and Eyeore are so naive they whisk you back to a time when childhood was soooo innocent.Original character voices as well, unlike later versions. Those who watched Pooh in their youth will enjoy this masterpiece.

One of the Best Animated Shorts.
This is a really good short, especially since it won the Academy Award for Best Short. Aside from picture issues on this tape to start with, it got better further on.

The original Winnie the Pooh films cannot be beaten. I bought this for my daughter and she was entranced. I thoroughy enjoyed watching it again - it is just as magical as it was when it was first put out on cinema all those years ago - a true masterpiece! Do not hesitate to buy this wonderful animation.
