Beautiful blade. Unpleasant grip.
The headline really says it all. This is a phenomenal blade. Really more of a machete than a sword, but no issues there. The blade is made of 1075 high carbon steel, and comes sharp and ready to use. Trust me when I say it's sharp... I'm down a work glove and a little skin on my thumb from rather foolishly running my thumb along the blade. Even the light glide was enough to go through thick leather, and the upper layers of my thumb. Shame on me.Anyway, moving on to the scabbard. It actually surprised me with its quality. Good leather, thick stitching, nothing cheap about it. I have no complaints about it.The handle is the only real issue, and there are ways to get around it. It's made of a polypropylene material that is very secure, won't break down, but is uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. I wound up with some serious blistering after about an hour of chopping some hackberry limbs. But an easy way to get around this is to wear gloves of any sort (5$ work gloves for me), and wrap the grip in leather or paracord. The end result is much more comfortable, and will ensure your hands stay blister free while you dice up inanimate objects.Overall, I would highly recommend this to everyone. If you want a good quality blade for cheap, this won't steer you wrong.

I absolutely love this sword.
I absolutely love this sword. It comes out of the box extremely sharp. The blade is made of 1075 high carbon steel, which is a very good choice, the edge retention is fantastic, and it feels good in the hand. The only complaint I have is that the hilt is polypropylene, but considering that the sword is only 60 bucks, it isn't worth complaining about.Pros:-Good steel-Good edge retention- VERY sharp-light and nimble- sheath is well madeCons:- Polypropylene hilt (but that's just nitpicking since the sword is 60 bucks and it still feels good)

Not a typical Amazon sales product
Can't really call it a cutlass sword. The blade is too thin for any kind of heavy use against other metal (swords) objects. I would notrecommend to any of my friends.

First on market with a Bush Cutlass Machete.
I am a collector of edged weapons, swords/knives/spears/machetes/clubs etc. I am also a very big fan of Cold Steel products among others. I have several pieces from Condor Tool & knife Co. all are well made, very solid, well priced and simply made (I only purchase carbon steel items from them). I saw on the Cold Steel web site, their 2012 catalog and that this year they were offering some new sword styled machetes, one of which is a Cutlass/Sabre blade, their previous offerings, the Gladius & Katana machetes are 1st class items and low priced to boot, and were very well received by customers. I knew that it would be several months before the new Cutlass blade was made available, I also knew that Condor was already offering that same style machete, well I could not wait so I ordered the Condor blade. I received it a couple of days ago, the blade is 1075 carbon steel, it very well made, VERY sharp (much sharper than any Cold Steel machetes), so sharp in fact that there is NO need for me to sharpen it to my liking, truly a very nice piece of steel! The sheath is just incredible for the price, it is made of heavy duty leather, no blemishes, has a swivel belt loop (so it will be comfortable when you sit etc.) a very nice touch. If you were to purchase a sheath like this one, it most likely would be in the $30 range, it is that nice. Ok, now to the ONLY thing I do not like and to me it is a shame because it really detract from the high quality of the other components, it is the handle, it is listed as being made of High impact polypropylene but feels and looks like cheap plastic, it is sculpted with a lion's head at the top and other designs, I don't mean to be picky because it does it's job if not very well, the hand protecting loop is a bit too narrow for folks like me with large hands, the worst thing is that I am not altogether sure as to the tang of this blade, it just does not feel that it is a full tang, I am very tempted to have that handle removed and replaced with either hard wood or Micarta, but do I really want to put such an expense on a $50 machete? Probably not, I will just add this to my humble but growing collection and will attempt to be patient for the upcoming Cold Steel models. One last thing, I do recommend this blade for it is a very good value, the steel & sheath are well worth the price of admission and if you have normal size hands it will fit quite well and perform at high level and should last quite a long time! (Idid some plastic bottle cuttings and it was FUN! blade just sliced them like going through warm butter).

More sword than machete
The media could not be loaded. I just got my sword in today and I love it, first off I want to say is that the sheath is absolutely designed perfectly with function in mind and it's beautiful, I can run without it banging up against my leg, I'm sitting in my Captain's/Computer chair wearing my sword while I'm writing this review, no discomfort, I'm not adjusting around in my chair, it wears comfortably on my belt. The handle fits good, it's an exact copy of a Prussian Officer's saber, (Awesome!) I wear a size 10 (Large) for gloves, I have man hands, it's a snug fit, if you have XL or extra fat hands, you probably will have problems, The handle is Polypropylene, I don't know much about plastics, It does feel light, one reviewer say it feels cheap. I don't think it's cheap because of two reasons, One; the sculpting on the handle is highly detailed, it's very nice, very well done, a piece of work. That's how I know it's Prussian (I'll try too upload a pic). Two; why would they use 1075 carbon steel, real leather (thick) for a well crafted scabbard and then skimp on the Handle? The blade is excellent, It really looks good, it looks more like saber than a cutlass, It looks nothing like machete. I'm thoroughly happy with my battle ready sword (yes, that's right, I said battle ready sword!) I will be ready for High Seas adventures or that Zombie outbreak, but am I going to use it for that jungle I got growing in the backyard? No! It's to damn beautiful, I got an old Chinese Chop-saw machete for that.
