i've decided that my black hood with a cheap boring light wasn't good enough any more. i looked at getting a glass cover and this one struck my fancy particularly because the handle is clear. i don't want clear glass, and then an ugly black handle randomly in the middle of it. it bothers me. this one, did in fact come with a clear handle. the adhesive is STRONG. i made the terribly awful stupid mistake of putting it on the wrong side. the wrong side being the side that doesn't actually open all the way. it leaves a 2 inch hole. but that's on me. the issue i have with this, is the size of the glass. this is glass. it's clear and doesn't come with any sort of light attached to it, obviously. meaning you have to purchase an overhang light, which i did. the issue i had was that the light i purchased had a black piece that "hung over" the outer frame of the aquarium. like a U shape that sits over the outer rim. there simply isn't enough space for it to fit with the glass lid. i've had to take the time to replace it with a light that just rests on the outer rim, and doesn't actually use the outer rim for support. i'd deduct a half star, if i could, for the fact that the plastic piece in the back was a bit tricky to fit onto the glass. and the part that slides onto the glass is HARD to cut with just your average scissors. it's also hard to cut out holes or blocks for any random wires or a thermometer cord like i had. i made it so it doesn't look like i botched it, but bothersome none the less.MORAL OF THE STORY:be careful what light you get to accompany this lid. it fit great, but didn't leave room for a light. make sure you use a light that doesn't wedge between the glass and outer trim and have one that hangs above it.have good cutting utensils for the plastic. the less you cut, the better.

I had originally accidentally shipped this to the wrong address (my old address) so I contacted Carolina Biological Supply Company and they re-routed the package to my actual address free of charge, their customer support was amazing! I e-mailed them as well, I didn't even have to pick up the phone. As for the product itself, I have a few issues but nothing too bad. The glass smudges super easily and it's hard to get the smudges to go away, and the plastic piece you have to attach was extremely difficult to get to fit onto the glass. I actually ended up hurting my wrist because while trying to get the plastic piece to go on I scraped my wrist off the glass. The edges of the glass are sharp, so be careful! Also, the cover just barely fits onto my 10 gallon aquarium, but it doesn't fit snug. Other than those flaws it does what I bought it for :) 5 stars for awesome customer service! Will definitely be buying from them again in the future.

I was looking for a cover that was low profile and also allowed light to reach the plants in my planted aquarium. This exceeded my expectations! It consists of two glass plates connected at a hinge for easy lifting of the front piece of glass for feeding. There is a plastic piece that attaches to the back piece of glass to allow cut outs for the cords, air hose, and filter. The plastic piece was slightly tricky to attach, but I don't worry it will separate. This cover arrived packaged extremely well, which I appreciate because all the glass was intact. The little handle for the front piece of glass has some powerful adhesive. Great cover, excellent price. I've just ordered another for my larger planted aquarium.

This is the best cover I've seen. I just installed it.Pro tip: the plastic was impossible to slide on. What I ended up doing was using a dab of oil and rubbing it along the glass edges.It was still a very tight fit but I managed to huff and puff a little and slide it on!I know it's on good now. That's all it took.Shoulda done it earlier, I was scraping the inside with a blade and contemplating hammering it on, even. But it was excessive friction that stood in the way, so I greased it up a little.I used skin oil, but I would imagine any oil, even canola, would work.

I liked this because I did not want to shock my dog for behaviors. I think the item could be a little more durable. My dog is a jack Russell so we all know how they are. She’s able to start chewing on the straps and the unit itself. Practically destroyed it once she figured out how too. Before that it did do its job and er time I put it on she knew not to bark. She could whine and the unit wouldn’t Recognize it even if u turned the setting up.

This is the best glass canopy I've ever bought. I actually got the plastic piece on the glass w/o breaking it...trimmed it with a steak knife easily. Slipped right on and fits (my tank) like a glove. Dimensions are 7 3/8 x 19 1/4...with the plastic piece on is 9 1/2 x 19 1/4.

It's nice. It fits my standard 10 gallon and helps keep down evaporation while still allowing me to see in the top of the tank. Condensation cuts down on that, but since my reason for getting it was to lower the profile of the tank to better fit the shelf it's on, it is a huge improvement to the large hood that came with it.

I love it! Before I moved my hermit crabs into their 40 gallon, this tank topper, on my 10 gallon, kept humidity and heat in super well. I loved it!
