Lacqer thinner - acetone plus other nasty solvents - at a good price
I had an old spill of oil-based fencing stain in my garage. It had happened some years ago, behind items that hadn't been moved in that time, so when I found it, it was already old and dry (or gummy). I tried various ways to remove it, even a scraper. No luck. So I thought I'd try this stuff. The instructions on the can say clearly, "Do not apply to floor or spread this product over surface areas of greater than one sq. foot because fire and health safety risks will increase dramatically." Being a dufus, I ignored these warnings. But I did work on one small area at a time. I had both garage doors and a window open, and I took frequent breaks outside, I really don't want to be a dead dufus.I'd pour an ounce or two of the thinner, then scrub with a stiff brush until it was all dissolved. Then I'd dump a cup of NON-CLUMPING clay kitty litter on the mess, and sweep it back and forth. Then I'd sweep up the kitty litter and dump it. Repeat - over and over.. When done, the vast majority of the sticky, gummy material was gone. I had to go over a few areas. That left only a large stain.I sprayed chlorinated brake cleaner on the remaining stains, scrubbed again, and applied kitty litter again. Now I have a large area of my garage floor that is cleaner than the rest. I can live with that. Please don't get me wrong - using this stuff as I did is dangerous. No way I can get around that. But in less than two hours of heavy work, I was able to remove the world's worst oil-stain mess from an area of about 12 square feet. This stuff will solve (dissolve) a lot of problems.

Good, efficient thinner
It works as a lacquer thinner should, and is the best price around. Go look at the asking prices for thinners at your local hardware store and be sure to have a friend along to catch you when you faint in shock.
