Every model rocket aficionado knows about these Estes motor retainers. They work great and are super easy to install. Highly recommend.

So, I have a LOC Precision Sandhawk Park Flyer, 1.6" rocket. This will be my first of high powered rockets as I'm getting back into the hobby and trying to get my foster kid into it as well. I've always loved model rockets, way too cool. So the rocket comes with a 29MM engine mount tube. LOC's idea of using a motor is to put a piece of tape around it for a friction fit and then to tape it into the mount at the end to keep it from popping out when the ejection charge goes off. I DON'T THINK SO, that's one of the lamest ideas I've ever heard. So I bought these retainers, was kind of worried because the LOC engine tubes are supposed to be thicker than Estes tubes. Well, it fit right on, no problems at all. The only problem I have is that the thread on retainer cap is almost the same size as my body tube to I had to modify the mount location by sliding it out the back about a half inch. No worries. I hadn't glued the mount into the body tube yet. I'm in the middle of painting the rocket right now so when I'm done I will add some images. Going with Aerotech Economizer F67-4W (no HAZMAT shipping fee) motors, the fit in perfect, retainer holds it in place perfect. Can't wait to launch this one, my rocket sim program estimates 1600 feet altitude so we will see what happens. Updates to come.

Man I love these retainers!!! Estes nailed it on this one! Sand the inside of the ring, use high temp epoxy and you can’t go wrong! They arrived quick and packaged well. I am now putting them on all my mid power rockets!!
