Yogurt culture is a science, in the sense that the necessary fermentation requires a temperature that must be maintained within a small range - basically not below 40 Celsius and not above 45. This yogurt maker can’t maintain the sweet spot of 42 degrees unless you cover it with a tea cosy or some towels to keep the heat in. Without extra insulation it will sit at 40 deg, which in my experience after 12 hours left me with warm milk.I was going to throw it away and then decided to try again with some tea towels wrapped around it. That small lift in insulation and temperature did the trick and got the temp up to around 41.5, which was enough to make yogurt. So should you buy this? I mean, it’s dirt cheap. And as long as you cover it as described, it does do the job. I’m sure there are much better yogurt makers out there, but they will cost more.Plus, it’s pink. And if you Google translate the Chinese on the box, the product’s actual name is “Cute Yogurt Maker”. I mean you can’t go past that, can you?
