Did not work out of the box because the driver that was supposedly included, did not install when I first plugged the adapter in to the USB port. Luckily, the user manual did have a URL to show where I could download the driver. The manual SHOULD have made it more obvious that manual installation was a back up option. The github download had a newer version so I used that.UPDATE: I found that when I go exit Windows 11 Hibernate into full operational mode, that there is no video output from the adapter. I had to disable the driver, reboot, then re-enable the driver. Then it would work again. So, that is unacceptable and I will have to return it.Other than that, the adapter worked great.

I used this in a multiple monitor setup and the driver quality is extremely poor as is evidenced in the driver installation which is messy/convoluted in the way its installed via exe since it doesn't use a standard driver, but the worst part is that because of the poor driver quality the image/video that is rendered is delayed by roughly 1/8th of a second or so if I had to guess to include mouse lag, video lag, and input/typing lag. In comparing monitors side by side (one directly connected to the GPU, the other connected by the USB to HDMI being reviewed) it was clear that the one connected directly via GPU had better responsiveness and quality in terms of mouse/page scrolling, video display, and typing/input responsiveness display. In any kind of screen transition state (closing applications, videos playing, video games) the adapter performs poorly and should not be used.I could see this potentially causing vision issues or headaches for some, I would strongly advise against buying this product.

The instruction packet was poorly printed and is missing parts of the driver installation instructions.The first time I set it up, I did not disable the antivirus software. Drivers installed but did not work. I decided to uninstall and try again before returning. Antivirus software kept quarantining the uninstall. Restored the uninstall file, disabled antivirus and the uninstall worked. With the antivirus disabled, reinstalled the drivers and this time it worked.Upon setting everything up, it works fine for most of my purposes since I don't need anything fancy. Also, the device is very sensitive to movement. Every time I touch the USB adapter, it loses connection momentarily. Not a big problem since the device and HDMI cables are behind the computer monitors so generally it works.Additionally, the driver seems to keep the second monitor on all the time. Primary display will go to sleep but not the extended monitor. Using Windows key + P to bring up the display options. I can select PC only, but within a short time the driver switches it automatically back to extend mode. I just turn off the second monitor and so far, that seems to work.You have to be patient in order to make it work, it is not plug and play.Follow the below steps:1. For those who have antivirus, it must be disabled, or the driver installation will not work. Once the device is installed enable your antivirus again.2. Insert the device and leave it alone. If you don’t get a popup, look for the drive mapped to Windows Explorer.3. Choose the driver to install, comes with IOS, Android and Windows driver so, choose accordingly.4. Follow the driver installation process5. Once installed, reboot the computer6. The USB to HDMI is now communicating with the computer.7. For Windows you can now go to Display properties, set the extended monitor mode, set the desired resolution, and monitor location (e.g. right or left, landscape or portrait). All normal Windows options seem to work (except sleep)

This is how I installed the driver (I am using a Lenovo IdeaPad with Windows 11):1) Plug the USB to HDMI adapter into an unused USB port, and plug the other end into your extra monitor.2) Open Device Manager. You can find it by searching via the magnifying glass in your taskbar at the bottom of your screen.3) Expand your list of Disk Drives4) You will see a new USB disk drive. If you unplug the new adapter from the USB, this drive should go away in Device Manager. Plug it back into the USB port.5) Open File Explorer and locate the new disk drive6) Click on it, and here you can download the adapter's user guide7) If you too are using Windows operating system, hover over the three supplied drivers, and locate the one with the "exe" extension.8) Double-click this executable driver installation file, and allow it to install. Also allow it to restart your laptop when you are done.9) Give your computer some time when it reboots. The extra monitor may not work immediately, but mine worked after 45 seconds or so.I love my third monitor! I found this video adapter to be a great value. Works great!
