You're paying for the branding, but it's worth it (maybe)
If you have a need for a USB to Ethernet dongle, you can't go wrong with this choice. These adapters are true plug and play on Windows 10 and above (haven't tested on Win8, but have no reason to believe it wouldn't work), meaning you don't need to have any driver disk or the ability to download ahead of time. The main reason I went with this item instead of the cheaper options which can be had for as little as $10 in some cases, is the fact that with a Dell OEM part, you're (presumably) guaranteed the build quality and therefore longevity you would expect from a brand such as Dell. These are for a business fleet of Dell Latitude laptops where Dell has removed the onboard Ethernet port in order to make them more slim. Basically, we toss one of these into the laptop bag of an employee along with a network cable, 10ft HDMI cable, a travel mouse, and a laptop charger, and send them on their way. They generally dock at a desk, but when traveling, may need any of these options. Rather than worry about build quality or reliability/longevity of some cheaper Realtek based alternative, we simply buy Dell OEM for this particular accessory. We have yet to have one of these fail, and have purchased dozens over the past few years.

Works out-of-box, even in USB-2 port
This ethernet adaptor worked without needing to install any drivers. The activity led flashed even before powering up my laptop. I read that it supports PXE booting, but I can't figure out how to get that to work. PXE booting from a USB ethernet device isn't an option in my Dell's BIOS.I question the speed. I have Gig-E with CAT-6. The device reports that it's negotiated Gig-G, but the sustained transfer rate is way below Gig rates. This claimed to be USB-3. My laptop has only USB-2. But this worked in those USB-2 ports. I expect it's just going to run slower. Unfortunately, this is my only option as the Ethernet port on my MoBo got fried.

Easy hookup.
I use it for my laptop. I prefer hardwire internet connection as opposed to WIFI. Easy to hook up. And it blinks when it is working.

Needed for my laptop
Newer laptops have so few ports these days. I got a new one that didn't have an Ethernet port, so I purchased this adapter. It works perfectly! No complaints at all. And it was reasonably priced.

Works as advertised
Bought a laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 3511) that didn't have an ethernet port. This works great. Plug and play. No hassle.
