This not a Shure, but a clone.
There's a lot of tiny details in the packaging, giving this away, and in terms of the actual mic. A real Shure has certain important characteristics - for example a really good anti-shock system protecting the capsule, specifically designed for live use. This clone produces unacceptable handling noises which get hugely amplified over a PA system. All in all, you buy a Shure microphone to use live because its brand name ensures reliability when you really need it. I bought this without looking at who was selling it... :-( So only buy from official Shure dealers, who are currently offering Beta SM58a's for £130 - which isn't far off the clone price.

Shure Quality!
Been using a Shure SM58 for years but whenever I used a Beta I just loved the sound. Really suits my vocal tones and style, you need to be close for the best effect. Chops out a lot more of the background sounds and vocally feel smooth and silky. Very happy with this purchase. And as it’s made by Shure, you know it’s going to last forever.

Big step up for live vocals
Big improvement on SM58 and works very nicely in a live setting. Also good for home recording - will give you that extra bit of presence you get from a condenser mic, while avoiding the hyper sensitivity (and room ambience) you’ll get from a large diaphragm mic

Just the job
I have used the regular SM58 since I started playing a long long time ago. After seeing a few videos on you tube thought this would be nice for my replacement microphone and I have to say I have found it be a vast improvement a much brighter and clearer vocal sound and would highly recommend SM58A beta.

A great 'allround' vocal mic...
Having been involved in both sound engineering & performing for many years... I bought this mic through various recommendations from professional singers & I'm not @ all disappointed...It's a great vocal mic with a very 'smooth' accurate 'sound'... As you'd expect from a condenser mic - it has a wide frequency response(up to 18KHz)... yet unlike some other more expensive condensers (such the £500+ NEUMANN KMS105)- it doesn't feedback all over the place... and is well suited to all types of gigging situations.I've used it for 'quiet' small restaurant gigs (for an 'intimate warm' sound) & also with a full live band (where you need to be heard)... and it's not let me down! The only thing to remember is that like all condenser mics...it will require phantom power (+48v) to work... So make sure that the mixer you're plugging it into can provide this.In summary - Always try before you buy (as everyone's voice & expectations are different)... But this really is a good 'all-rounder' vocal mic... And @ around £180 - you really just can't go wrong!
