I LOVE these. I am an avid mountain-climber (Sierras, etc) and hiker. Gradually, I have been getting on the "ultra-light" bandwagon - so that I can devote more pack weight to technical equipment on solo trips. These carrier-bags just work. When rain/snow is a threat, one bag gets my sleeping bag and extra base/insulating layers/etc. The smaller sac is a great catch-all for cooking, first-aid, extra paracord, patch-tape, etc. They are not as UL as dyneema - but way cheaper, and they kept my gear dry during monsoonal rains on a 5d hike in WY back country. I can't speak to their durability - but they seem very well made. Only 4 stars for Light Weight because again, I would only consider dyneema or the like 5 stars. This is the next best thing.

Stitching came undone at the bottom and not leaks air, let's water in. I've had this bag since April, used it a handful of times and tried contacting support on the wise owl site. Never got a response back. Feel it's too pricy for stitching to be this weak.

Just as good as the big name stuff from REI, which I also own. And way cheaper. I bought them for a 340 mile, self supported boat race across the the state of Missouri because two sea to summit bags had failed and I was sick of the high prices. These are just as good. Just buy them. Do it.

The material is light-weight and the closure mechanism is solid. Tested the waterproofness by submerging the bottom half of one bag in water for two hours. There was only a drop, maybe two, that made it through near the seam. As a fairly extreme test, I would consider that pretty much waterproof for protection against most rain events, however, I would not trust for canoeing, kayaking or other such complete dry bag needs. It's not that level of waterproof or durability. 4.5 out of 5.

Some dry bags are stiff and hard to pack. These were perfect! I have loved everything I have purchased from Wise Owl.
