Update: going on nearly a week of daily use and have had no issues at all! Also, I found a way to avoid putting stress on the hinge and extending it’s life. If you hold the case upright with the hinge edge on a flat surface, and then pull down by the keyboard to lay it flat, this reduces the strain on the magnetic clips so the iPad won’t pop out. Putting a little bit of WD-40 on each metal hinge also helped A LOT.The small ‘globe’ button on the function key row doesn’t seem to do anything on the home-screen of iPadOS. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to pull up a browser like Safari or Chrome. HOWEVER, I have found that it pulls up the emoji keyboard when typing!! So technically this keyboard does have a dedicated emoji button!I’ve only used it for a week at this point, but I love this thing! I purchased this fully knowing the issues with the hinge breaking after a short amount of time, but at $100, this is fine. I love how sturdy everything is, everything being fully encased in solid rubber.I LOVE the holder for the Apple Pencil being laid into the keyboard itself, although it does rattle around a little bit. Also, when the case is detached from the keyboard, technically you can magnetically attach the Apple Pencil to the case on the bottom side, just like with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil! The keyboard is great, although the keys are a little click-y for my taste. It’s so cool how there are 7 colors to choose from for the keyboard backlight, and 3 levels of brightness.The keyboard doesn’t have the ‘instant-on’ feature like others as it is Bluetooth based which naturally makes it turn on slower, however, I didn’t find the extra 1 to 2 seconds annoying. I have not found the typing experience to be laggy and have not lost connection (yet). I love how the keyboard charges via USB C! I was fully expecting micro USB so that was a happy addition.The only issue I have to complain about is the level of effort to put the iPad itself into the detachable case. There are two extended lips on the case where it attaches to the keyboard that the iPad has to clear for it to snap into, and I honestly thought I was going to crack the screen trying to snap it in. Additionally, the case is so tight around the iPad (not necessarily a bad thing), that a screen protector would probably get messed up when inserting (unless it was one of those softer film-like screen protectors).Also, the headphone jack and lightning cable port covers don’t lock into the case at all, so they will start to poke out of the case after many times pulling them out to charge/use headphones.This case hits 99% of all my requirements for the BEST iPad case ever. The only thing that would make it 100% perfect would be a hinge stand on the back of the detachable case like the Logitech Combo Touch case for watching media or taking notes without the keyboard attached. Also, if they made this exact keyboard case for the 12.9 inch iPad or any of the newer models, I would throw my money at Zagg.

Easy to use iPad keyboard and the battery last long too! It’s a little on the heavy side but it’s worth it as it offers great protection.

If you want fantastic protection for your iPad, this is the case for it. It’s heavy though, but when my friend saw it, he was amazed at the protection and sturdiness of the case. He said he thought I could drop it off the roof and it would be fine. (Do NOT try this though. haha).I almost sent this back when I got it because I tried for at least 30 minutes to insert my iPad into the case the way the instructions said, and they were wrong. It will only fit in the opposite direction. It’s a very sturdy rubber- like material that is quite thick and heavy as I said. So far it has been a bit difficult to open it and close it but maybe that’s because it’s brand new. I expect that it will get easier over time. I haven’t quite got used to using my new ipad along with a keyboard, and I do kind of wish that I had got a keyboard with a trackpad on it. I think that might have made it a little easier to use the keyboard with the iPad. I’m just not used to it yet. But when I am typing on the keyboard, it’s great— just like typing on a laptop. You just have to push one button to join the keyboard via Bluetooth. I highly recommend it if you can live with how heavy it is. It’s not really something that I would throw in my purse and carry around all day because of its weight, but I believe it would be totally safe if you wanted to do that!

I believe these areas are still 5-star.Warranty Replacement (Jan 26, 2024): The 5-star areas still hold true, however, several keys on the keyboard quit responding. The ZAGG keyboard only lasted 11 months and 16 days.Keyboard Keys Quit Again (Aug 16, 2024): The 5-star areas still hold true, however, several keys on the keyboard quit responding. ZAGG would not warranty the second keyboard given it was outside the original 1-year warranty. The ZAGG keyboard only lasted 6 months and 21 days. I am fortunate I purchased the ASURION 4 Year Office Equipment Protection Plan ($100 - $124.99).ZAGG did however, offer me a 30% discount to purchase another keyboard. Given the questionable quality or standby the quality of the keyboard, now I am forced to purchase something else.ZAGG should reconsider this decision and address quality issues given two keyboards did not last 2 years.

I bought the earlier model of this case and liked it enough to get it again. My work is mostly on the road and the case is subject to falls and other trauma. It definitely has performed well in these conditions. The keyboard also functions really well and this version’s keyboard is nicer than the last. The last version was held up by a propping the back of the case and this was not easy to use when trying to use in my lap. I was happy to see that this case had a hinge to support the pad instead, but the hinge is very stiff. When trying to move it back, the iPad often pops-out and makes a bad sound like it’s breaking. It actually is breaking, as it only took a couple of months for cracks to form on each side of the case. A rather disappointing design flaw to an otherwise great case/keyboard.

If you travel, edit, or do much of anything with your Ipad, this is a must have, It keeps your device safe and provides a base for almost any need. If you don't want it connected to the keypad, just remove the Ipad and put it back when done. The keys have no lag in typing, and I've found many extra uses for the case and how things are set up. Product is great.

Product arrived in good time. However once connected to the iPad several of the keys did not function at all.Returned unit without any issues
