brilliant, tasty, easy way to have low carb hummus that indeed tastes like hummus!
I bought these to make hummus, and hummus I did make! WOW--game changer. It tastes like regular hummus. Not "good for a hummus", but like, no one would know it wasn't made with garbanzo beans. Texture, weight, overall flavor is the same. Or at least nearly so. I didnt follow a recipe-- just sort of winged it, and it all turned out well. It says to cook on stove, but I just poured kettle boiled water over about a half cup of these flakes, covered, and let sit for a bit. Then not sure whether to leave some water or not, I kept a little of the water and added the moistened flakes to my ninja single cup blender. It was looking like hummus! Then I added some delicious tahini , salt, and fresh ground black pepper. Blended again. Taste? WOW, I could not tell difference between using lupini and using garbanzo. Add other flavors if so desired. I had tried the flakes dry and wet, plain. They have an ever so gentle bitter taste-- in a good way. I found that this flavor would work great in making a hummus, and sure enough it worked well (I omitted my usual squeeze of lemon). Since I had kept a little of the water, my hummus was a little runny. Instead of adding more flakes, I decided to add my trusty low carb, high fiber flour called Slimovina (another game changer in my life). This instantly thickened it up (it is my go to for adding body to soups and stews, and for making thicker sauces and gravies-- adds loads of nutrients but nearly no carbs. Can also be consumed as a hot cereal, or added to oats, grits.). So while I didnt set out to use the Slimovina, it was such a good/perfect addition that it might be my go-to mix. Just be mindful that Slimovina and Lupini products have A LOT of fiber. Then I used these delicious (to me, some people find them bland) B084WMWQR4 organic high fiber crackers . Again, watch the fiber, lol. But seriously.. my belly gets filled up! I dont recall why I chose these particular flakes. Might have been price, might have been reviews, might have been random. I am just glad I did. I will buy again. This bag will last me awhile as the way made my hummus ended making quite a bit. I knew I wanted to make hummus-- while I am not keto, I am watching (kinda) my calories and carbs. Ive been avoiding hummus because I tend to eat a lot, and even a small amount packs in calories and carbs. By switching to lupin, I am reducing a lot of the carbs. I have plain lupin flour on hand, but wasn't sure if it would work for making hummus, hence my looking for beans or flakes. The flakes are way quicker, easier, cheaper than the pre cooked beans. Un cooked beans would likely never get made by me. So I went with the flakes. Now I will have to try using this in other recipes. Cool beans. haha

Great addition to healthy diet!
My doctor wants me to eat more beans in diet for fiber and cholesterol lowering abilities. However, I am not a bean person. So I bought these flakes. I love them as a hot cereal in morning. LOW calories, High fiber, high protein and low carbs. It is a perfect meal! I add cinnamon and stevia, some fruit and to off with my FLAV City Vanilla protein mixed with almond milk and it is Delicious! I am trying to lose some weight before a photo shoot in October. Going to eat this every morning for a month and I will be back to give you my update.

The taste is now better not bitter with adding cinnamon and vanilla
I'm sorry, I may not know how to prepare this product, so if you can give me advice on that would be wonderful!! I prepared it the way a Keto Friend told me, but the taste was bitter. I even added more sweetener, but it did not help. I truly am sorry for the negative review. REVISION: I have experimented with adding vanilla and cinnamon to the flakes, after receiving advice from Maggie, and I have found a taste with that, that is not bitter. I keep them in the refrigerator in a closed mason jar and have a little of it when I'm craving cereal. It works great for my craving. I have not tried it for any other recipes yet.

Slightly bitter but great in curry
I started adding these to my vegan keto cauliflower curry and they work well. They need to be soaked first, because they are quite bitter, but after soaking they work well. I also tried making an "oatmeal" substitute with coconut milk, allulose and cinnamon, however even with soaking ahead of time, the lupini flakes were too bitter. I'm still working out how best to use these as oats. Overall I'm very happy with them though; they fill for foods I can't eat.

Wanted to Love It
As someone with T1D/low carb dietary needs I'm always scouting for foods I can try out. I've been enjoying other lupini products and had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, there is still a bitter under taste with this product. Lupini beans are extremely bitter and need intensive processing to remove the bitterness. It still works well for dishes with a lot of spice/flavor - but as an oat or cereal substitute I found it unpalatable. Would buy again for savory dishes, but there are other more versatile lupini products out there.

Not digestible with the provided cooking instructions
I eat lupini beans ALL the time, I love them. The cooking instructions on this are NOT sufficient for these beans. They need to be soaked and cooked for much longer than 5 minutes. I couldn't digest these, they gave me awful heartburn (something I've maybe had two other times in my life). It's a good idea but don't recommend the product. Also, it honestly wasn't tasty. I've made lentil "oatmeal" before and lentils are way closer to the texture of oatmeal. Lupini beans are beans with a real bite and crunch, they don't translate in this context.
