I’ve been using the Identiv SCR3500C USB Smartfold Type-C smart card reader for a while now, and overall it’s been a very solid piece of hardware. Setup was straightforward—plug it into a USB-C port and it was recognized immediately on my system with no problems. Build quality is better than I expected for a compact reader. The folding design makes it easy to toss into a bag without worrying about damaging the connector, which is a big plus if you travel or move between workstations. It feels sturdy, not flimsy, and the hinge has just enough resistance to inspire confidence. Performance has been consistent and reliable. I’ve used it with CAC and other smart cards for secure login and authentication, and it reads cards quickly without needing to reseat or fiddle with positioning. No random disconnects or dropped reads, which is critical if you’re using this for work, government access, or secure systems.

It just works! It is very compact and NO issues at all and that should be the selling point!

Does its job, never fails to allow me to use my CAC. I should probably get another one for my phone just so I can always use it on the go. It has broken on me yet and I don’t think it will anytime soon. It’s seamless to use plug it in with a USB-C port and insert your card with its respective chip.
