Epakitin helps the kidneys! It kept my dog's SDMA # down since 1st started it 1 1/2 yrs ago.
Make sure to get your dog's blood tested as he gets older, and make sure to ask to test his SDMA. The SDMA is an early indicator of kidney problems. You don't want to wait until the creatinine and bun levels go up in the blood test, before you take action to help your dog. The SDMA level is an early indicator to tell you if there's anything starting up with the kidneys. That is what happened with my older dog. Once the blood test showed last year that his SDMA went just above the normal level, I jumped on it, researched, and put him on Epakitin. And, because I have put the Epakitin in his homemade food of chicken or red meat, rice, spinach, etc every day, his SDMA levels have went back to, and have stayed, normal.Epakitin is a phosphorus binder. Phosphorus is what is bad for the kidneys if the dog starts having any kidney issues at all. The Epakitin lets the dog be able to still eat foods high in protein, which is essential to their health (meat, chicken, which usually has the most phosphorus), and the Epakitin will absorb the phosphorus, so it doesn't harm the kidneys. If your dog is starting to, or is already having kidney problems, get him on Epakitin. It is an all natural product. Also, Standard Process products are also highly rated, and have been around for years. They have a renal support powder that you put a tiny bit into the dog's food, that would be good to use in conjunction with this.

it's helping to stave off Pickles' kidney disease and giving her better quality of life!
So we've inherited Pickles from my husband's late mother; and she's at least 15-20 years old. Not surprisingly, she's developed kidney disease as she's aged; and it's affecting her bowel movements. We've used Epatikin before on the advice from our vet for Miles, another kitty who also had kidney disease. It didn't cure him; but it gave him better quality of life; and extended his time by maybe 6 months to a year,. Pickles has been on it for about 2 weeks now, and is showing some improvement both in bowel movements and a slight weight increase ( she needs it). It mixes easily in food as shown in the pictures. I wish the manufacture would include a measuring spoon of some kind( I borrowed the Lysine scoop), as it's hard to scoop the product at the bottom of the container. And, this is very pricey - nearly 30.00 - but it's worth it; and still less than you'd pay at the vet's for the same product.

Kitty didn't like it
Unfortunately I cannot speak to the efficacy of this product because my Kitty can taste it in her food and really doesn't like it. She'll pick around it a little bit and it's hard for me to get her to finish the whole thing. Also upon further investigation I found that it does raise calcium levels which mayor may not be a problem depending on your kitty's kidney needs and other medical issues. She is on calcitriol Which affects calcium levels and heartbeat. So I don't think I will be able to continue to give it to her. Check with your vet 1st! Just to be sure…

No flavor; easy to sprinkle on the food the cat will eat
I use this product for my kitty who has kidney disease. Actually, this is the second kitty. I credit this product with giving me an extra year with my older kitty, and with the current one... perhaps 2 extra years. She will NOT eat the special kidney food, and neither would he.Be sure to acquire unflavored lactulose from your vet to give your cat if you use this product. This product can cause constipation, and the lactulose is the solution. I use 1/2 scoop of epakitin plus 4-5 drops lactulose per can of fancy feast for my kitty. She is a small cat; she only eats about 1 1/2 cans of the food per day. A larger cat who eats more food will get more of the product per day, which is correct. I used a full level scoop plus 9 drops lactulose when I used larger cans with the two cats.Definitely try this if your cat turns his/her nose up at the prescription food!

Yorkie life saver for kidneys
Product works as described and used in conjunction with Azoydl twice a day for his kidneys keeps him alive eating and feeling well at 14 years old. A year and a half ago the vet described him as in renal failure with two weeks to live and I found these two products and it changed everything along with a low protein diet

Easy to dose
Loved powdered form & no flavor nor smell that would turn my fussy old 7lb ShihTzu with CKD away from eating. Reasonable price for most pets. Her lab numbers were a bit better within couple weeks of starting this mixed into her food so good product.

Life Saver
If you have a dog with renal problems this powder will greatly extend their life and most of all, quality of life. My vet prescribed to me, and from my experience using with my mini schnauzer Terra, it added a least a year. She was really sick and Epakitin made a real difference, totally turned her around. She wasn't throwing up and she had her appetite back, I am now using with my Isabella Mini Schnauzer also, and she doesn't care for the taste, so I use vegetable capsules (I bought from the health food store or you can get here on Amazon,) and I fill with the powder. Just a note, when Terra was very sick I put the powder in the veggie caps and got it in her. At first, I used whatever tasted good to her just to get it down.

Muy buen producto y precio.
Lo ha aceptado muy bien la mascota. Cumplió la expectativa. Se puede dar mezclado con la comida y también disuelto en agua con una jeringa.

Diarrhea
I have a 17 year old cat with stage 2 CKD. Gave this to her 2 or 3 times and it gave her diarrhea. Got on the floors for the first time. May give this another try a bit later…

Natural way to help kidney diseases in cats and dogs
This was recommended in a vet video to help cats with kidney disease. It seems to be adding some nutritional value to my cats food. I definitely see benefits.
