I’ve been getting more serious about my sourdough baking lately, and the Saint Germain Bakery Premium Round Banneton Basket has honestly made a bigger difference than I expected. Right out of the box, the basket feels sturdy and well-made. The rattan is smooth, tightly wound, and has no loose fibers, which is something I’ve run into with cheaper bannetons. It feels like a tool that will actually last instead of something that warps after a few uses. What I love most is how well it helps with structure and shaping. My dough rises evenly and holds its form beautifully, giving me that classic round boule look. If you’re into sourdough, you know how satisfying it is when the dough releases easily and keeps those perfect spiral lines. With a light dusting of flour, the dough slips right out without sticking. The included liner is another big plus. It’s soft, well-stitched, and fits the basket perfectly. I like having the flexibility to use the basket with or without it depending on whether I want a smooth finish or a rustic spiral pattern. The liner also washes well—no shrinking or weird misshaping. Performance-wise, this banneton helps the dough develop a drier surface and better skin, which translates to improved oven spring and nicer scoring. My crusts have been noticeably better since I switched to this basket. It also wicks moisture well, something experienced bakers really appreciate. The size and depth are ideal for standard sourdough recipes, and the basket feels light but durable. I also really appreciate the clean, natural look—it actually looks nice sitting out on the counter. Overall, if you’re a home baker looking to up your bread game, this banneton is absolutely worth it. Great quality, great results, and genuinely enjoyable to use. I’d definitely buy it again.

So much for premium, looks like cheaply made banneton, with cracks and wood splinters all over. Liner is also very dirty.

This brand Banneton Basket is taller, wider and longer than other brands claiming to be the same size. The other brands are 5 3/4" wide this one is 6 1/4" wide, others are 3" deep, this one is over 3 3/4" deep, length is 10 1/8" compared to the others that are just 10". Depth & width are important especially if you are making a 500-600 gram flour weight loaf @ 75-80% hydration 20% starter, 2% salt. Construction is excellent as Banneton shape is more difficult to build than rounds, no large gaps, very flat and even bottom and sides, staples/metal fastening devices are neatly recessed, no sharp protrusions. Fit and finish is excellent - linen cover is sized and cut perfectly as a liner or cover. There is a bit of a chemical smell when opened - but if left out of airtight plastic wrapping for an hour or so it disappears - Ithink it is just part of the manufacturing process, nothing to be concerned with but if it really bothers you just rinse basket and linen in warm water and let both air dry - I let it dry as I was heating oven for a bake (on top of stovetop - MAKE SURE ANYTIME YOU WASH and DRY the LINEN that you have it attached to Banneton - I attach to Banneton using the built in elastic band and pull it up like a cover to air dry it so it keeps its shape - otherwise it may shrink as it is a natural product. After I "Rice Floured" the basket and linen - first time using it (I did not wet the basket or linen as I needed them right away) - between the fresh air time out of the packaging plastic bag and the rice flour coating (I changed the rice flour before putting dough in banneton just in case) all the odor was completely gone. The loaf after 24 hours of cold retard in banneton, came out perfect (better than the one in my older smaller banneton). Storage: I always Dry on stovetop, brush all old flour off and reapply a light coat of rice flour before storing all my rounds and ovals baskets/linens in an airtight zip lock bag before storing - I will rinse any linens that have caked on flour if brushing doesn't work but again must be completely dry & dusted to prevent mold. Great product at a very fair price - fast delivery (24-48 hours). Chris

This is a great banneton. The depth is perfect - they are sturdy and dry out quickly between bakes. I have 6 Saint Germain bannetons - an assortment of boule and batard shape. They are deep and the sides are high. There is a small variance in the height on the batard (oval) bannetons, but that doesn’t affect the dough. The banneton looks exactly like it does on the product page. They are lightweight. The narrowness of the bottom and the even high walls help the proofing dough hold shape and after the bake, produce well shaped and sturdy loaves.

This basket is amazing! I had a round one but wanted to make loaf bread and it’s perfect for it! I highly recommend!!
