Stable, solid feel and performance
This is in combination with the BAFX repeater kit. It controls an in-ceiling Sony projector and Marantz 7008 receiver which is behind a cabinet, both by mini jack input both with IR remotes. When the Sony powers up, it controls the screen and projector drop. My DVD player (rarely used anymore) is RF making this pass through unnecessary. (Why all equipment isn’t RF, I don’t understand). I would call this a legacy purchase as newer equipment is mostly app-based. I like the solid feel to this and that it can be drilled through a cabinet/wall vs. seeing a cable snaked through a cabinet door or opening and taped to the outside cabinet. Cleaner look. I painted mine to match the cabinet. There is a red glow from the eye but not bright and no one comments on it. Owned now for 3 years without a glitch, and can recommend without reservation. Please note that you must have a controller, and I stayed in the family using the BAFX which I would also recommend.

Beautiful, discrete IR receiver
Works great. Install required a 1/2" drill bit and ten minutes (including measuring and running the cable). Range is as good as the BAFX receiver included in their repeater kits.Note: This has a REALLY bright LED embedded on the circuit board, which glows brightly with every remote press. This is useful for feedback (indicating the receiver "saw" the keypress). For me, that flash of light was not desirable, so I removed the LED with a soldering iron & tweezers. Works perfectly!NOTE: NOT compatible with Monoprice or Tripp-Lite devices, due to different wiring scheme for the 1/8" headphone end. Wired for BAFX IR repeaters.

Nice addition to the BAFX Repeater kit
I purchased this with the BAFX repeater kit and it works great. I plan on installing it on one of the rails in my entertainment center. Once installed it should blend right in. It receives the signals from the remote from a wide angle or any place in the room which is what I need in the short term. In the long term all of my equipment will be behind closed doors with only this Peephole receiver showing. Glad I purchased it. It is made from a nice heavy piece of brass. It does have a red LED that is on all of the time if that is important to you.

Poor range
Poor range with my DVR. I can control my receiver from over 20' away. I can't control my DVR from over 12' away. Controlling both with the same remote. The IR receiver that came with my BAFX can easily control both from over 25'. I'm also annoyed that this emits a red light.

No brainer for closed cabinets
I built a bookcase around my fireplace and needed this item to manage electronics with the cabinet door closed. Fit perfectly and is fairly inconspicuous. Easy to install and works perfectly with my other IR-bug equipment.

Fit perfect
Installed on my 2010 Mini John Cooper Works. Fit was nice. This part matched up perfect with all my existing factory fittings and hoses. Factory part was leaking at the pressed seam. Factory unit stamp was dated Dec 2012 lasted to May 2019. I used a hose clamp set to help reach some of the more difficult clips to reach.

IR Repeater
The BAFX peephole IR repeater works very well. It was easy to install and connect to the control box. It has a flash back response so you can see that you are communicating with the device. My only complaint with the item, is that it has a red LED that is on all the time. My personal preference would for this to be off, our user selectable. The control box is easy to install. I chose to use hook and loop to attach it to the inside top of my audio/vide cabinet, but it comes with screws for permanent attachment. The LED emitters are easy to run to your equipment and attach with the peel and stick fasteners. No configuration or setup was required, just plug-n-play.

Ordered 2, one worked, one didn't
Ordered 2ea to control equipment in side a home theater equipment closet. One worked, one did not. I am returning the defective one and ordered a replacement which should come in a couple of days. The one that works seems to work as expected however, it only comes with a 5 foot cord, in my case a little short, 8' is needed so I had to use an extension cable as I would expect 5' to be short in many equipment closet situations.
