The Concise 21st Century Crossword Puzzle Dictionary Paperback – March 5, 2013

My wife is something of a crossword puzzle whiz-at least compared to me. To up my game, I need a bit of help. And though I've only started using it, so far this dictionary does that. This book advertises itself as the most thorough, but concise crossword puzzle dictionary. I haven't checked them all, but from what I've seen, I don't doubt it. Before ordering, when I saw the Amazon page count of 1376 pages (which is correct) and only 1.3 pounds, I thought there was a typo. But it's correct, its chunky but not unwieldy. And the paper quality is still good. One possible issue/caution: without my reading glasses on I had to squint a bit to read the introduction and notes on how to read the book. I ordered The Concise 21st Century Crossword Dictionary for the second time. My husband does his crosswords every morning, and does really well doing them with no help,but, wants to know what particular words mean. This book keeps my husband busy and that is a good thing!! He claims this particular Crossword Dictionary is the best "hes ever found ". Excuse me???? Amazon found it for Me to order! Thank you Amazon!

This is an 2009 update of an earlier version as I suppose but with the name I am not sure. It is a very good reference for crossword puzzle information. It has information that can lead to other possible clues if your first thoughts for answers is not the right one. Crosswords is a thinking game but there are times when even my brain goes into idle ode and I need to find a little assistance from this book or others/

This was a gift for a relative who loves crossword puzzles. This was a fantastic help for her, finding answers. At 89 years old, it get;s harder to remember things!! This really made a difference.

I had a wonderful book that finally fell apart....no, I do not remember what the name was, but it was wonderful. Had things organized such a all the genus together, all state flowers together etc. This one is not good

An excerpt in book states all the words you need and none you don't. I have been doing the crossword puzzles in the newspaper daily and the dictionary hasn't been very helpful. At least a dozen words I've looked up haven't been there. It's okay for the price but don't expect it to answer all your questions (definitions). Am kind of disappointed in it, will chalk it up to an unneeded purchase so thank goodness it didn't cost very much.

The older addition was bigger and contained more information than this one. I thought this would be updated, but all they did was print it on a smaller page and delete a lot of information. There is no updating of clues dealing with computers or texting. If you want a small hard to use book this is it. I don't think it will last half as long as my previous.

This is a great book! It completes my lust for more crossword puzzle dictionaries! It helps make the search for answers to the puzzles sooo easy!!

Bought this Crossword Puzzle Dictionary as a Christmas gift for my husband. He is an avid crossword puzzler.He uses it all the time when he needs to look up a clue. It arrived ahead of schedule and was well packaged.If your looking for an updated Crossword Dictionary. My husband highly recommends it.

I am slightly disappointed with this product. As an avid crossworder, I needed a dictionary to match. As this is the latest version, I expected it to be very up-to-date. Unfortunately so far only 3 of the words I have needed assistance on have been in the book. Also, as it is produced in America, some of the spellings are different. I find this book a little frustrating and am unhappy with my choice of product. I cannot recommend this dictionary from my point of view. Others may see it differently, but for me I am now looking elsewhere to find something more suitable.

This book was a replacement for one that got worn out from use. This puzzle dictionary seems to be the best one out there for us.
