I'm allergic to everything -- especially sunscreen. And as I learned on my honeymoon last year in Antigua -- which was my first tropical vaction -- I'm even allergic to conventional hypoallergenic sunscreens. I had packed this sunscreen as backup, knowing I'm ultra sensitive, but relied on a popular brand that is hypoallergenic for the first few days at the resort, because I had never been in the Caribbean sun and didn't want to fry.I tan fairly easily and I don't burn very easily, so that might impact my experience, but this worked for me when applied correctly. I try to stay out of the sun when I could, but I still spent lots of time walking around the property and in the pool and ocean. The soothing ingredients also helped calm down the hives/allergy reaction I got from the conventional "hypoallergenic" sunscreen I used earlier in the week. It helped it to stop itching, seemed to calm down the redness of the hives and -- best of all -- kept me sunburn-free. If I hadn't packed this, our honeymoon might have been a disaster. I'm repurchasing now for a trip to the Dominican.It's important to read up on this sunscreen and learn how to apply it -- I believe that made all the difference. You want a white sheen on your skin that will fade away on it's own, and you need to use a lot, and you can't expect to sit in a pool for 4 straight hours without getting out to reapply. I believe they reccomend around 1 ounce of product per application, and I reapplied frequently. Natural products require a litle more effort, and they're more expensive, but for someone like me who is allergic to EVERYTHING, this sunscreen is a life saver!!

I really liked this product, and tried several before writing this review. I definitely plan to buy it again. My husband and I used this product all week while in Hawaii, snorkeling and hiking, plus working outdoors in Southern California. We don't get much sun, so we were pasty--but this sunscreen protected us everywhere we applied it, even for 2 hours at a time while swimming or sweating. There are only a handful of ingredients in this product, which did not aggravate my sensitive skin (I was recovering from dermatitis at the time and had just come off steroids and antihistamines). Also, the stuff is a "low hazard" for reefs, according to the Environmental Working Group ( e w g dot org), which tests and ranks sunscreens for their impact. The formula is less thick than other mineral sunscreens, so it's easy to apply. My husband hates putting anything on his skin, but he didn't mind this. It goes on white, but dries clear with little odor. Don't rub it in too much--you want to look a little white at the start--you are trying to lay down a thin mineral film with this product. Be sure to apply 20 minutes before going out into the sun, to give the lotion time to form the protective film. I'm guessing that other reviewers didn't like the product because they didn't apply it right or didn't give it time to set. Lastly, it can leave white stains on clothes, but I had no trouble getting them out in the wash.

Would rate this lower if not for the low price, compared to all other reef safe products.This thing does not rub in, it leaves a white layer over your skin. If you apply it slowly little by little, you can kinda make it work. But it clumps up easy if you try to spread it over a large area.My boyfriend used it our first day in Hawaii and still got burnt. I did not get burnt so maybe it works. But yeah, basically you get what you pay for

Worked great, but wish it was easier to rub in and didn't make you look like a ghost.

I used this on my 1st cruise and came back as pasty as I left lol. It works great and is approved when swimming near the reefs. A little goes a long way and it does leave a slight residue, but normal spa for me is 100 and this works just as well. I will take a few streaks over red

When applying, make sure to take a small amount and spread it. If you take too much and apply it, it will leave a white cast. Other than that, it was amazing and perfect for a tropical getaway!

Bought this for our trip to the Caribbean and snorkeling in the reefs. Although I didn't burn, the sunblock didn't rub in well at all. So, you are visibly white. If you try to rub in more it starts to clump. I will not purchase this product again.

The distributor was great - the shipment arrived in just 2 days. The product; not so much!We live in Albuquerque, NM, so we deal with particularly intense sun. For years, we have successfully used Banana Boat Quick Dry Sport. Historically: spray the kids, let it dry, good for hours. Recently, after reading EWG (Environmental Working Group) Sunscreen report, we attempted to avoid some of the harsh chemicals found in our regular sunscreen and selected this product. We applied a liberal coat of the new product and waited at least 15min before getting into the pool. Two hours later, my 6yr daughter is burned. It’s not like we missed a spot – both arms were red. Luckily, we had reapplied a second coat to her face after about an hour. In hindsight, the label says “water resistant up to 80min” and true their claim the sunscreen protection is g-o-n-e, gone, in about an hour.Lesson: if you’re going to use this product at the pool, be prepared to pull your kids out of the water every hour and goop them up. This product is rather thick, so ‘goop’ is not too far from the mark.Coral Safe maybe considered safe, but I am less than impressed with ‘effective’ in a pool environment.
