Although this was intended for my five year old grandson who aspires to knight errantry, it is high-quality enough for some serious cosplaying. Admittedly, I'm no ren-fair frequenter, but this is the kind of thing I could see being impressed with at a ren-fair. Because it is real metal, it is quite unforgiving and can be a hassle to get on. It's fine for my grandson mostly because it's not really supposed to fit him exactly. It also came with some kind of grease on the metal which I recommend wiping off thoroughly before putting it over your clothes. There are some sharp edges and there is a real possibility of pinching yourself on the overlapping shoulder plates, but some with some minor care those are quite avoidable inconveniences. Now we just have to get my grandson a horse named Rocinante...

I bought this for my Ren faire costume. I'm satisfied with the purchase. It's sturdy and well made for the price. The inside paint scratches off easily and will have to be redone eventually. I'm 6'1" and 290 so it's a little snug on the neck but otherwise comfortable. The tab for the rivet comes close to the edge so in order to make it roomier I would have to drill and move the rivet. Overall a good outcome for the price.

I was looking for a gorget and spaulders as part of a renaissance fair costume. After looking around, I picked this up knowing that at $80.00 it would not be the highest of quality out there. However when i unboxed the pieces today I found that the gorget was wrapped and the back did not align with the front and would have to be bent in place. Additionally, the leather buckle that ties the spaulders down on the arm was missing completely on one of them. Overall the metal is flimsy, the gorget is very small (for me anyway) but the spaulders are much larger and are loose on my arms. The leather strops are torn and very weak and the black pain on the inside flakes off easily and soon was all over the place.Not inherently a bad product and it is salvageable with a little TLC and some spot welding, but for $80 I shouldn't have to spend the time fixing it. Lower the price or up the Q/A.

There's nothing wrong with the material used or the cash value; the product itself is a solid metal type that connects together. My only issue and the reason its 3 our 5 stars is that this piece is way too small and couldn't be utilized for the costume and essentially was a waste of money.I bought this as part of a costume for the renaissance fair; the piece arrived promptly and is solid, however its extremely small and wasn't able to be worn as part of the costume. The chest and back piece connect at the top but, by combining them, i was choking myself as the hole left to place your head was extremely small. The piece was to go over some chainmail and over a cover, however that was not possible and it didn't get worn.My request would be for the company to maybe place some photos of models wearing the item and state the overall size; this particular piece is best suited for a small child at best and not for an adult.

The straps are thin and will not hold up to the abuse they will have with HEMA/SCA. Had to add extra leather to the upper arm coverings to keep them from slipping off at the top of the shoulders

What you see isn't really what you get. It is just a costume piece but still one would expect to get what they pay for. Not worth the price and work modifying it but I'll make it work.

I understand for its cheap price it isn't much but the collar piece is woefully small and has a lot of sharp edges and the metal work is very rough, only bought it for the pauldrons

I'm doing something wrong the pauldrons don't stay in place

Happy overall, i knew that at that price I'll need to made some adjustement. BUT the leather straps are cheap thin ones. NOT at all as shown in the pictures. Still i can work with it or change them...
