Dycem50-1550W Non-Slip Netting, Roll, 24" x 6-1/2', White

I love the many uses of Dycem sheets and rolls, have ordered it here and can't do without it. But this Dycem "netting" is another story. It doesn't look as pictured: airy, net. And it isn't the usual smoothly tacky, water repellent texture of Dycem, either. Instead, this product is a closely-knit spongy material which readily absorbs water and liquids - and which takes quite a bit of time to dry. What it looks like, feels like - and what I believed it was when I unwrapped it - is exactly like the spongy-textured shelf-liners sold in rolls in most hardware and home stores . . . at a small fraction of the cost of this. One would do far better going that route and forgetting this. I had successfully utilized large sheets of regular Dycem cut from rolls of it to prevent a chronically ill relative using a hospital bed from sliding down when the bed's head was raised. Dycem sheets successfully prevented her bedsheets and incontinence pads from shifting, however I thought this "netting" would be an improvement, given it's ability to let air circulate beneath the patient. However, this "netting", unlike regular Dycem, easily absorbed urine and other fluids and unlike Dycem could not be wiped down. Instead it had to be thrown into the washer and dried - a lengthy job using an outdoor line, or (as I finally did) by using the clothes dryer. Coincidentally, I did have a roll of that spongy open-weave shelf liner (Contact is one brand) and this looks, feels and performs exactly the same. Stick with that far more economical stuff to prevent objects from shifting when you prefer not to use (and spend for) the solid Dycem sheets or rolls.
